First of all, the pineapple slicer is a great invention. I have been pleased with this slicer, but I do have one gripe about it.
For your average sized pineapple, the cutting diameter is too small, meaning it leaves too much wonderful pineapple flesh next to the outer skin that has to manually be cut off with a knife. If the cutting diameter was increased say, 1/2 an inch to 1 inch, this would be an easy 5 star rating. If you choose a long, skinny pineapple, less waste is created. But for the average pineapple, this slicer just doesn't cut it.
Other than that, the cutting blade is great and cleanup isn't too difficult.

If you get a fresh pineapple more than a few times a year, this is definitely worth it. Our family loves pineapple, but I always dreaded cutting it up, even though I got better at it. Now, it's actually fun! Just cut the top off, set the slicer on the top and start turning. It really works great. You don't even have to use much pressure. The hardest part is pulling the pineapple back out of the shell. I cut the pineapple in fourths while it's still on the slicer, then it just falls off in nice chunks. The only potential drawback is that if you had a rather fat pineapple you might end up wasting some of the outermost fruit.Customer Review: Worth 6 Stars, I promise!

I highly recommend this version over the fully plastic one (though the plastic still works). This is SOOO easy. You cut the top of the pineapple flat, and just start turning with this tool... I would suspect even a person with arthritis in their hands would find it easy. Pulls the whole pineapple out, perfectly sliced, great presentation, no quirks. I've seen this identical product for twice the price in stores (which is why I hadn't owned one yet) but at this price point is worth EVERY DOLLAR - seriously. Before this tool I NEVER bought whole pineapples, now I can't wait to see them in the produce isle!Customer Review: Best thing since sliced pineapple!

We like fresh pineapple, but we seldom buy it because it is so messy to cut. Not with this tool! It's easier to use than an apple slicer! You can core and slice a pineapple in less than a minute and if you want to be clever, you can use the pineapple husk to serve a delicious adult beverage! Right after we bought this, we happened to be in Tuesday Morning and saw the plastic version of the same tool. We bought a couple for friends and family. They work just as well as the stainless steel one (thought I'm sure they won't last as long).
A handy tool to add to your kitchenware.

I bought this item for my mom. Before I was able to give it to her she was given the plastic version of this same model. I used her plastic one and found it work pretty good. I then tried the stainless-steel one. I brought it to work and showed my preschooler how you can cut a pineapple. Everyone including the other teachers were very impressed. Like the other reviews said when I decided to buy this product you have to make sure you get the slicer centered to get the core just right. It works great. I would recommend this slicer. It was easy to use and easy to take apart to clean.
