While the tool itself could probably be improved on, this little device really changes the way you think about Pineapples. Before I bought this device, I hardly ever bought pineapples, despite the fact that fresh pineapple is one of my favorite tropical fruits. I've only bought twice in the past 10 years.
Now that I have this corer/slicer, I probably buy two pineapples a month. It makes eating pineapple nearly effortless. I can core a pineapple, have it sliced and plated and the remains thrown away in under a minute. Before, it would be a 15-20 minute task.
The plastic handle feels a bit cheap, but the stainless corer is sharp, easy to clean, and that is what matters most to me. For the price, this thing can't be beat!

We bought one of these about 5 years ago and use it all the time. I thought it was just one of those things that everyone had. I love to use it and eat pineapple all the time. I was telling a friend about it and she had never heard of it. So I made a slide show for her and she thought it was the coolest thing. She had never seen one. Well, I am on the west coast and she is on the east coast so I thought maybe they don't have em on the east coast. I sent her one for a present and got my mom one too. They both love em and can't use them enough. My friend Carol uses it like 3 times a week and her and her girls Samantha and Ashley love to use it. I was browsing through Amazon.com for some ideas on what to get for Christmas presents(those hard to buy for) when I came across this stainless steel pineapple slicer and thought to myself how much I love fresh pineapple but find it such a chore to prepare and reemembered three other people on my list that have shared the same concern. So I purchased four of them not really knowing if they were going to work but did read all the reviews which were quite favorable. I kept one and gave the other three away as Christmas presents along with a pineapple. I have checked back with all three recipients and have got nothing but rave reviews. I have a regular old melamine corer of this same brand. It is generally fabulous and works wonderfully. That is, until a month ago. We've had ours for 9 mos, and the black plastic handle has begun cracking. I was hoping to re-buy a new stainless one, thinking that would solve the problem. However, torque is the issue and the corer part that goes thru the pineapple is still fine. I would not waste the $$ on the stainless model b/c it looks like the top handle, which receives all the torque, is STILL PLASTIC and I anticipate the same breakage issue. My advice is to think of this item as a throw away and that you will have to replace it eventually. Don't buy the stainless.Customer Review: it works, it's sharp

This slicer makes pineapple cutting easy. I love fresh pineapple, but hated having to cut them with a knife... so I rarely bought whole pineapples.
After buying this slicer all that has changed... pineapple cutting is simple and easy. Hardest part is just finding the center and making sure you don't get too off-center as you're twisting.
Only drawback: Cuts same size rings no matter how big your pineapple is... so if you have a large pineapple, you might get some wasted fruit on the outside. (just cut that excess off with a knife, not that hard to do)
Cleans up easily... if you like pineapple, this is worth it.
