I purchased this lamp a month ago and I love it.My husband and I were decorating our room over and we bought 2 bedside tables for a great price and he already had a lamp for his side so I needed one for my side.When I saw this lamp and the ratings it had I figured it was too good to be true but I said I would try it anyway.This touch lamp is perfect for a romantic setting,reading,and brightness and since I have a newborn baby the first setting is perfect for middle of the night feedings and it doesn't bother my husband's eyes.The first setting is also perfect for getting ready in the morning because it's so dim.This lamp is so cool I highly recommend it and the price is just right!!!!!!!! I ordered this to go with another crackle glass shade TOUCH lamp that looks identical to this in the photo. However, this one arrived today and it has an on-off switch on the cord and absolutely no touch function to the base. I am extremely disappointed. I should have believed other reviewers who said it wasn't a touch lamp. I figured they'd ordered the wrong thing. So now if I return it, will I get the exact same thing as the exchange? Sigh... Bought 4 of these lamps to try in patients rooms in my hospital for the night time. The nurse can easily enter the room and touch the base to start a warm glow of light just enough for the patient to get used to the light and no rude awakenings. Then the light can be adjusted up as needed. Patients often find comfort just having the lowest level of lighting on all night long. Nurses and patients like them. A 40 watts bulb is sufficient. The only way it could be improved for our use is if the glass shade was made of unbreakable material. We recently had one accidentally knocked over and broken. Best to keep up high, but not too high to reach.Customer Review: Amazon is slipping!

This is NOT a touch lamp, though product description says so. Read the most recent reviews. Of about 17 or so reviews since May 24, 2010, as many as 15 says this lamp is NOT a touch lamp! Nevertheless, Amazon.com keeps selling it as a touch lamp! I've been a satisfied Amazon.com buyer for many years, but this is the first time I have encountered something as bad as this.
It is a pretty lamp, and is probably worth the price if you don't mind turning it on and off using the conventional switch on the cord. But look for something else if you want a touch lamp. I have returned it for a refund.
Customer Review: The perfect bedside table lamp!

Last year I built my wife a nice red oak bedside table and we looked a long time for an affordable lamp to accompany it. This little lamp has turned out to be just the thing! The silver color and frosted/crackle shade are attractive and the touch-sensitive power feature is great for turning the light on without fumbling around in the dark too much. The three way bulb is also nice for different reading light preferences.
There's not much to say other than this lamp has the look and feel of a quality item costing much more. I highly recommend this purchase!
