Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Uplight Lamp with Crackle Glass ShadeCustomer Review: Great value! Great looks! Summary: 5 Stars
I saw this lamp here online but then purchased two of them at my local Target. I had read other reviews in advance and it sounded favorable.
We have a new home and we're looking for a contemporary look. For an affordable price, these add that look to a room. Goes with any decor with brushed nickel, stainless or chrome. Also Asian inspired looks.
These reside in a guest room on two small night stand tables. They have a small *footprint*. I love the look of the crackle glass. I think the 3 way lighting is great. The first setting is like candlelight and would make a great light to leave on at night. The 3rd setting is enough to read by in bed.
Overall very satisfied with my purchase.
One drawback: you can't hook them up to the light switch near the bedroom doorway, since they are touch lamps. Once the power is off, you have to touch them again to activate them.
Customer Review: Convenient, but with some flaws. Summary: 3 Stars
This lamp is our second, and to be honest, it's not quite as good as the first. For some reason, it's a little bit too touchy. When we touch it, instead of cycling through dim, medium, high, off, it often skips stages and goes from off to high, dim to off, etc.
It does get hot, as another reviewer mentioned, but to me it doesn't get dangerously hot and I don't think it's a fire hazard any more than any other lamp with a 60 watt bulb.
Also, be aware that the 3-way feature only works with incandescent bulbs, NOT the energy-efficient fluorescent bulbs. If you use a fluorescent bulb, all three "on" settings will be exactly the same. The bright side (pardon the pun) is that you can save energy and have a touch lamp... you just don't get the 3-way feature of the lamp and it takes three touches in the "on" position to turn it off.
Customer Review: Excellent choice for night lamp or use it as accent lamp Summary: 5 Stars
I bought two of these lamps. By looking at the pictures, first I got the impression that these lamps may be small for my tables. But when they arrived and I opened the box, they were neither small nor large. They were medium in size. The glass on this lamp is really beautiful and very thick. The touch sensor dimmer mechanism also works and is very useful too. The dimmer works only with regular bulbs(60 watts), not with energy savers. The wiring inside the lamp is not very well clipped. One of my lamps wire connection was unclipped from inside during shipping, so it was not working when I plugged it in, but b/c I have some technical know-how, I figured it out and fixed it. If this happens to someone else (non-technical), he/she may not be able to fix it. Anyways, I love these lamps and I am using them both as night lamp and accent.
Customer Review: Nice for the price, but a couple flaws Summary: 3 Stars
This is a very cute lamp, and the low profile works nicely in the bedroom, where I also appreciate the diffused quality of the light. One small aesthetic issue: with the white glass and nickel-colored base, why on earth did they put a black power cord on it? Because I have it on a built-in shelf, it can't be hidden at the back, so it's kind of clunky looking. As for functioning: when I tried to use a compact fluorescent bulb, it wouldn't turn off completely! It just flickers and then starts to strobe, but never goes off. As it happens, I also had a 3-way bulb in an old lamp, and that works just fine. Which is a shame, since I've been trying to use more CFLs. But since it will only be used for pretty short periods of time, and not even every day, I've decided to keep it.
Customer Review: Great Buy - try different bulbs Summary: 5 Stars
I bought two lamps for my bedroom a month ago and I love them. I noticed some people had problems with the light flickering or not turning on. My suggestion is to try a different lightbulb. I almost went back to the store to return mine before I realized that the spiral fluorescent bulbs I placed in mine were the culprit. For some reason, those bulbs were just not compatible and made them flicker and sometimes not turn on (plus made a annoying buzzing noise). So if you are having that problem, try a tradition incandescent bulb and that may nix the problem. Other than that, no problems since, even with daily use. I would suggest this lamp to anyone looking for a stylish, versatile lamp without a big price-tag.
