With any "via mail" purchase of an item that is partially made of glass there is a chance of it arriving broken. However, when my first one did,it was an opportunity to see how well Amazon/Target/UPS were on customer service. It all went very smoothly and my second one arrived in good condition and very quickly (withing a day or two of reporting the first came damaged). UPS picked up the broken one I was returning from my front door with no problems and no charge. Amazon did all the arranging of that so I didn't have to bother with it.
As for the lamp itself, I am very pleased with the glass is opaque which hides the bulb inside from all angles except the top and my only wish is that there was some type of cover for the top so that I wouldn't have to worry about dust settling inside it around the bulb/socket.
I love the 3 brightness settings and the touch on and off and brightness level base is So nice and easy to use especially in the dark.
It was slightly larger than I imagined standing 10" tall and approximately 5-5 1/2" across the dia of the top with the base another 1/2 to 1" larger than that. Style wise it is a good mix of classy and simple at the same time.
I bought mine for a bedside lamp and I'm loving it... Especially for the price, it is a wonderful purchase. Thinking of buying another.

I love when things really work out like this!!! As my 2nd baby approached delivery I really wanted to get a bedside lamp...I wanted one that would attach to the wall so it would not take up space on my nightstand and I wanted one that would dim so that I could have it very low when taking care of the baby in the middle of the night. Well I looked and looked and looked and it seems no such animal exists...well I found something on ebay that ikea makes but its soooooo modern looking and the globe sat in this ring and was detached from the base...anyway that was like $40 and then decided I couldnt use it - so then I saw these lamps and decided to give them a try...at the brightest setting they give off ALOT of light and at the dimmest setting it is just perfect for taking care of baby or getting up to go to the bathroom...the fact that they are touch lamps makes it really easy - no fumbling for the switch. Also because of their shape they dont take up TOO much space on my nightstand...they are glass shades and I worried about that because we are clumsey here - but they are very very stable. Anyway I love them and I couldnt be happier!!! (well I could if they hung on the wall, dimmed instead of 3way, and if the dome werent made of breakable material - but no such animal exists and the price cant be beat!!)Customer Review: Nice lamp, BUT..... its not a touch lamp.

I read most of the 81 reviews before ordering two of these lamps for my bedroom as I have been looking for something stylish and contemporary and not overly expensive. I was excited when I found these lamps as I really thought that this was it!!! Well, I was disappointed when they arrived today for various reasons.
1. They are not touch lamps. The invoice clearly states 'Non Touch'. This was not indicated at the point of purchase, or when order was processed and shipped.
2. They are considerably bigger than the picture respresents.
3. One of the lamps has a 3 pronged crack in the shade, but its not actually broken, its just a crack inside the glass. Wasn't this inspected before shipping? Another reviewer mentioned receiving a lamp like this, so I am guessing that these 'defective' ones are still shipped instead of being returned to the manufacturer as damaged.
All of that said, they do look nice on my bedside tables so I am not returning them, partly because I cannot be bothered with all the hassle. I live in the Caribbean, so to go through the returns process will probably cost me more than I shelled out for them in the first place.

I have always used touch lamps by my bed for the ease of turning on/off the light before falling asleep and getting up in the middle of the night. The only problem I had with regular touch lamps is that on the occasions I fell asleep with the light on, the brightness from under the lamp would glare in my eyes when turning at night and wake me. This little uplight is perfect! There is no bright glare shining down. And it uses a regular light bulb, so it can be bright enough to light up the room or read with, yet the dim light is low enough for ambiance. It has a very nice appearance and was even larger than I expected it to be (to my liking).
Very nice product!
EDIT: This lamp stopped working about two months ago. I thought it was a bad light bulb so tried a few new ones. No success. Dropped 5 stars to 2 stars for short useful life. I think a year and a half is a little to short for a lamp. :( Too bad cuz it's such a pretty one.

I've heard that there should be just as much light coming UP from a room's floor as there is light coming DOWN from the ceiling. Well, this light fills the bill, offering several lighting options - and the price is an incredible value.
Depending on your mood, you can have the light low (for romantic evenings, perfect with candles), or medium (for reading or spot lighting) or high (brightens the entire room).
Turning the light on and off is a snap. You simply touch the base and touch it again to make the light brighter. This is so easy that I bought extra lights for my mother (who has arthritis and finds normal light switches painful to turn). and can set it at low (great, romantic mood lighting), medicum (for brighter lighting) or high (full-strength brightness). The crackle finish on these lights make them very classy and stylish, while the simple lines make them adaptable to both traditional and modern interiors. A BEST BUY on my list!
