I purchased this cable so that I could connect my cell phone (LG CU515) to my computer and download pictures from it. The cable itself works fine. However, be aware that it won't do any good to have this cable if you also don't have software to take the pictures, music, etc. from your phone and transfer it to your computer. I'm unfamiliar with the technological lingo, but apparently without such software your phone and computer can't talk to each other. The cable includes software, but it comes on a mini-disc that doesn't work without an adapter or a computer that will specifically read & load mini-discs. So, the cable itself is great, but it's virtually worthless (and probably the reason for the incredibly cheap price) without proper software.Customer Review: Linking to Computers

A suggestion for buyers that are trying to send information to/from the computer to the cell phone: besides the cable, you'll need a SD card (usually micro, but some require mini) and the driver. I own a CU720 Shine, but the driver is actually the VX8400 (it's somewhere on the internet), and certain cables are interchangeable, so don't be surprised if it's tagged differently.
I discovered this later, and so now I have to wait for a SD card, there are some great bargains on Amazon though. Watch out for shipping that are not displayed.
One of the things that cannot be easily transferred is the Contacts, so if that's the plan, do some research.

I have been unable to download photos from my LGCU720 to my PC with this cable alone. Apparently it needs software. However, Amazon does not carry the software that specifically mentions that it is compatible with that phone and neither does the LG site. If there is a software that will work with my phone, I would be very grateful for direction to that equipment. Otherwise, this is just a USB cable that was very inexpensive and not functional on its own. I would think that if this cable is available on Amazon, a companion software would be paired with it or recommended as available for purchase in line with their usual "people who bought this also bought xxxx".Customer Review: Works Fantastic, and I stuck it to the MAN!

This cable works perfect! My wife and I got new LG Shine phones and wanted to get the data cable so we could load pictures, music, etc. on the phone. So we went back to the AT&T store where we got the phones to buy the cable. Well they sold us the charging cable with an adapter, and told us that it would also work as a data cable. Well guess what! I doesn't! And for $31 we were pissed! So we returned the cable and started shopping online. I found this cable for $.01 and ordered 2. It came and works like a charm. So there! My main reason for purchasing this product was to give me the ability to charge my cellphone from the USB port on my computer. This it does OK. I was also able to transfer files to an add in micro SD flash card but could not get to my address book or main memory. The cable markings show that this cable is for VX8500 series LG phones. The cable may not be compatible with the CU720 Shine. But for only $.06 who cares. PS I kept the LG Shine for only two weeks before sending it back to AT&T because it wouldn't sink with my Bluetooth headset and the alarm didn't work when the phone was turned off.
