Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Trudeau Garlic Press, Black

Customer Review: Does the job with ease
Summary: 5 Stars

After stuggling with a cheap plastic press, this is nirvana. I haven't tried more than one clove yet but it works like a charm with one. One press and it's through. My plastic one required me to cut the clove in half, press, try to move the remainder around with a pick, press again, then throw in the towel. It cleans as easily as any press of this design will. Clean it as soon as you use it, 'cause if you let garlic dry in the holes of ANY press, you'll wish you hadn't.

Customer Review: Dead at 13 months old
Summary: 3 Stars

I LIKE Fresh Garlic! Which explains why I bought a garlic press. I used this about 1-3 times a week... on 6-8 cloves each use.

This is NOT the first press I have owned that went POP... and it DOES have a 5 year warranty, except I have to pay return postage, and pack it up, and trudge down to the Post Office and wait.

I 'll probably just toss it.... and start over. Maybe if i SPEND MORE MONEY...I'll get a better press?!

Customer Review: You need this garlic press
Summary: 5 Stars

Do you really need a garlic press? Yes! A good garlic press ruptures the membranes producing a more well-developed garlic flavor and the fine, consistent pieces produce a consistent texture in your dishes. The Trudeau Garlic press is solidly made, extremely easy to clean, has no removable pieces, has a generous hopper, was simple and comfortable to operate, and does not require the hand strength of a super hero. Garlic is good for you - squeeze and enjoy!

Customer Review: It was fine while it lasted but it didn't last long
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this garlic press based on the Cook's Illustrated recommendation. Sure enough, it worked beautifully for a couple of months. Then the pin holding the two pieces together started coming out. That was doable, I was always able to put it back together. Until the thing simply broke - I mean that a piece of metal broke in two. I don't expect heirloom quality for $11.99 but I do expect a product to last longer than seven months of moderate use.

I previously had a Pampered Chef garlic press and wanted to replace it with one that was easier to clean. I was a bit surprised with the weight and bulkiness of the Trudeau. It is quite heavy, and I find it difficult to actually press the garlic. Possibly too big for my hands? On a positive note, it does a nice job of self-cleaning. Probably would not buy this one again, and instead, look for one that felt better in my hands. (lighter, less bulky)
