Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Trudeau Garlic Press, BlackCustomer Review: I am Impressed Summary: 5 Stars
As an Italian I use a lot of Garlic. Even grow my own. For some odd reason I have always used those cheap garlic presses that squish most of the garlic back behind the plunger. I heard they actually made good ones so I checked the reviews on this site and chose the Trudeau Garlic Press as a stocking stuffer for the wife. We both think it's great. It really sends the garlic out the holes instead of around the plunger. You can even use two cloves at once. The hole cleaning do-hicky works nicely too. Nice big handle is easy on your hands too. Not much else to say except I recommend it.
Customer Review: LOVE this garlic press! Summary: 5 Stars
I am so glad that my old garlic press finally died (actually snapped in half!). I refused to buy a new one while the old one was still kicking, but now that I have this solid, wonderful, self-cleaning press, I wonder why I waited so long! This is the nicest garlic press I have ever used (though I already admitted that for the last decade I have used a cheap, old non-self-cleaning press). It crushes several cloves at once and then cleans up with such ease...no searching for the little cleaning tool, just swing the handle backwards and out falls the garlic mess. I love it!
Customer Review: As promised in Cooks' Illustrated Summary: 4 Stars
This garlic press is the absolute best of the 3 or 4 garlic presses I have owned over the last decade or so. I purchased this particular one based on a review in Cooks' Illustrated magazine. This press is heavy but durable and crushes cloves easily. The cleaning mechanism is attached to the press which is good (you'll never misplace it). My only concern is that it may become detached from the press over time as it can stick a bit when cleaning skins from the press. Overall I would recommend this if you were purchasing a press. I plan to order one as a gift for my mom.
Customer Review: Good press Summary: 4 Stars
We bought the Trudeau press because Cook's Illustrated rated it very highly. Functionally, it lives up to their raves. Decent capacity, sturdy and well built, great mash consistency, easy to use and easy to clean. Very good value.
The only small annoyance is that it's very hard to drain or dry completely after washing: water stays between the rubber/plastic parts and the metal. I will probably eventually remove the comfortable rubber handle grips permanently, and dip the handles into that tool-handle liquid vinyl stuff instead.
Customer Review: heavy, hard to use Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this product based on the Cooks' Illustrated review. I really dislike it. Sometimes I have to use two hands to squeeze the garlic. It is very heavy. My old press was lighter and easy to press, but the finish was damaged by washing it in the dishwasher. I miss it. I dislike this press enough that I will likely buy a new one and donate this one to good will. I have owned it for about 1 year. Aside from the teeth on the back of the press allowing for easier cleaning I don't see what there is to like about this press.
