Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Trudeau 16-by-12-Inch Polypropylene Cutting BoardCustomer Review: Disappointing Summary: 1 Stars
I was very disappointed at how quickly the surface of the board was scarred by use. The polypropylene seems unusually soft. Within a few months both sides were scarred so badly that it seemed like I could use them to grate the vegetables at the same time I was slicing them.Rather than pay the price for a "name" brand I think I'll just buy cutting boards at Wal-Mart in the future. They can't be more disappointing than this one was and they're a lot less expensive.
Description of Trudeau 16-by-12-Inch Polypropylene Cutting BoardPlunk this 16-by-12-inch cutting/carving board on a counter, and it stays put while you slice a roast or chop onions. The board doesn't require a damp towel underneath either, because soft Santoprene corner pads prevent it from skidding. Just a half-inch thick and therefore lighter than most cutting boards, it's formed from nontoxic, food-grade polypropylene and won't chip, splinter, or warp. You can use both sides of this board--the carving side has a groove that traps juices or liquids, while the cutting side has raised edges to prevent bits from straying. The board is stain-resistant, but if it does become stained, soaking it in bleach for 15 minutes should restore the surface. Though imbued with an agent that inhibits bacteria from penetrating the board itself, the board won't protect users against food-borne bacteria or other germs and must be cleaned like any other kitchen surface. It's dishwasher-safe, but scrubbing with a brush or cleanser is recommended when it needs more than a simple wiping. --Fred Brack
