Customer Review: Better than the around-the-neck pillows

I think the TravelRest Pillow is OK. It is definitely better than those pillows that go around your neck.
It is very easy to inflate and very easy to pack with your carry on bags.
I found if inflated fully, it was too big for my liking. I let out some air and it was more comfortable for me. I also turned it upside down at times. The skinnier side was more comfortable for me. At times, I even leaned forward in my seat, folded the pillow in half, rested it on the tray table and rested my head on it, it was a good height for that.
Basically, I rarely used it as it as shown in the picture, but it still worked for me, better than the around the neck pillows.
I would not call this a miracle pillow though, and it was way more expensive than it should have been.

My son and I tried this travel pillow on a long plane trip, and found it disappointing. We both found the traditional U-shaped travel pillow, or even the more basic cylindrical one, to offer more support and comfort.
Neither of us could see the point of a pillow that extends from the neck across the body towards the lap. That part of the pillow didn't offer any benefit that we could discern and was more in the way than anything else. And if you want to shift your head from leaning towards the left to leaning towards the right, you need to shift the pillow, too. After giving it a good try, we just deflated it and stuck it back in our carry-on, so it ended up being just something else to take up room but not pull its weight.
Next time, we're going with the traditional U-shaped pillow.

As someone who has always had a hard time sleeping on airplanes (I'm a side or stomach sleeper - can't sleep on my back or sitting up, for that matter!), I thought I'd give this pillow a try. It's a definite improvement. It provides more support than traditional u-shaped pillows and gives you something to snuggle up to, if that's something that makes you feel comfortable. It could use a few improvements, in my opinion.....a removeable, machine washable cover and a more user friendly valve, but it sounds like the company is working on both of those things. The current valve isn't terrible, I've just seen better ones on other travel pillows. The pillow rolls up very small when not in use, but it does look a little silly when you're using it. If you don't mind a few stares, then I'd say definitely buy it!Customer Review: Makes a world of difference on long-haul flights

I just used this on a long flight from San Francisco to Shanghai, and was able to sleep pretty comfortably in coach for once. I wore it "guitar style" slung over a shoulder, and was finally able to get sufficient neck support to sleep sitting up without contorting my neck. It was easy to inflate, held its inflation pretty well over the course of the flight, and folded up again neatly when we landed. I haven't tried the fleece cover but found the sueded plastic material comfortable enough to sleep on. Especially in combination with a footrest (such as Inflatable Travel Footrest - Compact packaging easy to travel with, this pillow can make long-haul coach much more comfortable.Customer Review: So Far Disappointing Experience

I've purchased this pillow after reading a few favorable reviews on Amazon and I was planning to use it on a long plane trip. At first there was no option for the color, however, I've sent an e-mail to the customer service, and they sent me a color I've chosen. Unfortunately, I am unable to rate the ease of using this product because this pillow went flat within five minutes. When I came back from the trip I've contacted the manufacturer again (via e-mail) explaining what happened and asking for replacement. They responded promptly and promised to send me a replacement upon receipt of this defective item (at my own cost). I'm willing to give then another chance because my next long trip is within two weeks; however, do not really like the conditions of the replacement.
