Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Tovolo Star Ice Pop Molds, Set of 6, GreenCustomer Review: MMmmmmmm good Summary: 5 Stars
These are awesome. The base holds the molds securely - I've yet to spill anything expect an occassional few drops in the base itself. The star shape is easy to gnaw at, and the whole thing gets thrown in the dishwasher after I've eaten the last one. No wasted sticks or extra costs for that. I can't same I'm a biter, but the the handles/attachments have held up well. Also, I've never lost a popsicle in the process; they always pull out (water helps). Oh, and a tip - you don't have to snap the handle onto the mold; just place it on there before putting in the freezer. If you snap it on, it's a lot harder to get off (but more secure if you have kids). I'm buying more Tovolo molds now.
Customer Review: best popsicle molds since the tupperware 70s version update! Summary: 5 Stars
these are great! easiest pops i have ever taken out of molds! ever other one i've used my teeth, water, etc...these you just run under hot water until you see them turn white because they are pulling away from the sides...and they drip into the handles which are super sturdy and great for little kids...then they just drink the drippings instead of getting it all over their hands! can't wait to make more!!! and they come out huge and well formed in the star shape AND way better than store bought! do not hesitate and if you've tried the sandwich molds from williams-sonoma these are the same maker and work just as great!
Customer Review: Perfect solution for healthy homemade popsicles Summary: 5 Stars
These popsicle molds are great. The lids fit tightly, preventing leaking even if they tip over, and they fit snugly on the base. It's great to be able to take one out at a time and once they are frozen you don't have to keep them attached to the base (which does take up a lot of freezer space).
We have found that the best way to make healthy popsicles is just to blend fruit in the blender and pour into the molds (no added sugar or juice required). There are limitless possible combinations and they don't leak everywhere like juice popsicles do. Our favorites are nectarine-strawberry, pineapple and mango.
Customer Review: Easy to use Summary: 4 Stars
Overall a great product. It is easy to use and I like that they are separately stored, so even my 4yr old daughter is able to get one out herself (and after watching me, she is able to run some warm water on it to help it be able to remove it) Only issue with it, as mentioned before in other reviews, is that the "drip" catcher bottom/handle, can feel up too quickly, allowing it to spill out when tip the popcicle to eat it -- so we tend to eat them outside, occasionally tipping them to spill out onto the grass. Still happy that we bought them and I plan on looking up recipes to make more kinds of treats with them.
Customer Review: Difficult to suck Summary: 1 Stars
I was very excited to order these popsicle molds after reading all the positive reviews. They are very easy to make and look lovely. Eating them is another story! A popsicle should fit comfortably in any size mouth and I'm a woman with a very average size mouth. The popsicle was too big and has too many ridges to allow you to suck it...you never have enough surface area in your mouth at one time to melt any of the juice! It's not what you expect from a popsicle at all! I now know that a popsicle needs smooth sides, not ridges...it doesn't work for me at all and it drips!
