I have been looking for sturdy floor lamps for my kids bedrooms so that they could get enough light for homework, reading, etc. but without the risk of them falling over, falling apart, starting a fire (like some of the halogen ones a few years ago) or costing an arm and a leg! This lamp has worked perfectly. It is stable and sturdy enough, and with the five bulbs, gives off a lot of light (my daughter has 40 watt bulbs in hers which is less than the 60 watt recommended and it gives off plenty of light)... but the best part is that it is a great deal for the money. Other lights I have seen of this quality have been much more money!Customer Review: great lamp

This lamp is a great buy -- easy assembly, good looking, unique design, highly versatile, useful in a number of ways -- AND great price. I'm extremely pleased with this purchase -- it actually lights two adjoining rooms for me, and can be used to give high, general light, or low focused light for eating, dining -- or anything in between -- i see no evidence of the design flaws that a few other customers have commented on. Shades look like glass but are plastic, which suits my situation well -- don't have to worry about accidental breakage with pets, kids in the house. I gave this two stars only because I think it's a great style of lamp, and great idea, however it is really a poorly made lamp. The metal is weak and the threads stripped easily, and the base falls off all the time...I've had mine for less then two years, and only after about 3 months of having it it became a dust collector in the closet! It wont stand up anymore at all and I keep wondering if it's fixable, but am ready to toss it because it's not worth it! So my advice...is dont spend the money on this style of lamp, go for something more balanced. I am very dissapointed :(<br />

I've been going to Target every weekend for the past 3 months, looking to get this specific lamp, as this lamp was "display only" and completely sold out... FOR GOOD REASON! But this weekend I finally got my lamp!!! Easy to assemble, took maybe 10 minutes at most. Very simple instructions. And now I am typing this review via the light of this great lamp. Funky, hip, and I've seen "Euro" models similar to this for hundreds of dollars. The catch - the translucent light heads are plastic... but you'd have to literally tap one to figure that out. I originally bought this lamp for my sister as a Christmas present. However, after realizing what a great purchase I had just made, I immediately went to my Target, where it was no where to be found. After seeing how hip this lamp was, no other lamp would do. I searched all over the city, hitting 4 Target stores. Finally, after the Holiday rush had settled and everything picked over, I saw a tattered box in the corner, which contained my lamp. I have been more satisfied with this lamp then ever imagined. Its different levels of lighting make it a great (and neccessary) buy.
