Customer Review: Decent lighting, cheap shades
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this at Target some time back, and I noticed a spot on one of the shades recently turned yellow and crumble. I called the Adesso assistance line to get the shade replaced, and apparently they took over production of this shade recently from another manufacturer. The representative explained that their manufacturer's specs and the previous one's are slightly different, and they wanted me to acknowledge a email form releasing them of liability of the shade, even though the part of the shade that needed replacing did not conduct electricity, etc. Hopefully, it will be satisfactory. I'll update this review with new information.

As for the rest of the lamp itself:

Regarding lopsided / unsteady lamps:
It is very important to get the post lined up correctly with the base before screwing it in. This is very tricky, but I think most of the others' issues with lopsided lamps are due to misalignment of the post. I would suggest screwing the lowest part of the post into the base before screwing in the upper ones. I have my lamp on a carpeted floor, and it is almost upright (it looks slanted because of the floor; every previous floor lamp I placed there stood and the same angle.)

Regarding blown light bulbs / tripped circuit breakers, etc.:
Please remember that you have a FIVE-bulb lamp. Yes, it is pulling a lot of electricity, so if you have tripped circuits or frequently blown bulbs, it is due to your building's/house's wiring and probably not the lamp. Speaking of blown bulbs, in retrospect, I think that the shade that turned yellow and crumbled had the most bulbs replaced. When I had to replace two bulbs at one time recently (I had left one blown out for awhile), I decided to replace all five bulbs with CFL bulbs. As noted in other reviews, the tip does stick out of the shade because of the shape of the shade, but it isn't noticeable unless you are looking at the shade from a certain angle.

Repositioning of the lamp:
As for moving the lamp around, the lamp is fairly heavy when it is all put together. I would suggest that if you purchase this lamp, you set it where you want it and don't move it around (and place it out of the way so you don't bump into it). I have mine in a corner behind a chair, and it makes a pretty good reading lamp. I am able to move the lamp around when cleaning the floor, so don't think it becomes an immovable object once assembled.

Overall, I think it was worth the price I paid for it.

Customer Review: Hydra or Stainless Steel Calla Lillies?
Summary: 5 Stars

This lamp is so perfect for my corner office space that I have fallen in love with it, and I don't usually fall in love with light fixtures (they're so hard, so cold, and they burn your lips if you kiss the lightbulb). But seriously, I'm a classical musician who does a lot of MIDI and computer music notation work, so I always have a V or corner setup with my Macintosh to my left, and my keyboard to my right. I don't like light directly falling into my eyes while I'm working, but I need light on both workspaces, one on the flat desk before my computer, and one on the vertical music stand behind my keyboard. In addition, I have so many electronic devices hooked up, I don't have a lot of extra plugs for lamps. Anyhow, this one lamp does it all. I can shine one light on my desk, one light on my vertical music stand, and the other three can point towards different places on the ceiling for optimal indirect light. The plastic shades can be arranged to block the direct light of the bulbs so that I'm not blinded while I'm sitting in my chair working. The three way rotary switch allows me to turn on just the working lights on desk and stand, or just the three indirect lights, or all five together. I love this lamp so much, I'm going to buy another one, just so that I'll have a spare in case this one gets damaged. Plus, it looks really cool!

Customer Review: this is a sturdy lamp
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a sturdy lamp. I'm so surprised at the quality. What did I pay? $40? I thought I'd buy this style to see if it does what I need as far as lighting up the center of the large room. It does. Now I'm afraid if I buy a lamp for 4x the price I'll be disappointed. Plus it uses regular bulbs, and because it is a 3-way switch (2, 3, or 5 bulbs) we could use fluorescents. Anyway, if anyone has a problem with this lamp I think it may be operator error. It took some care to get the joints screwed together without cross-threading (but I think that is a function of the sturdy, tight-thread and a good thing), and although I've only used it for 3 days, I cannot see an issue with the joints. Not sure which joints that would be. Once you put it together, you don't have anything to do with joints. Because to move the bulbs around, you use the gooseneck. Too bad the bulb covers are plastic and the lamp is silver colored. It is brushed, I supposed, but the whole thing is pretty shiny. It doesn't look bad. Oh, well. Make a deal: You provide glass lamps and some plainer color options, and I'll gladly pay twice the price. (What a deal.)

Customer Review: Good in a home, Not in a zoo.
Summary: 4 Stars

We have this lamp and love it, it's stylish, but really lights up an entire living space unlike other lamps that seem to only light up their little corner of the room. The lamp heads are all adjustable and can be positioned to light up every corner of a room. The only problem as others have suggested is the stand is relatively flimsy where it attaches. It's not sturdy, or thick, and so it's easily broken. Our 2 yr old thought it would be fun to stand on the base and lean back holding the pole, so it snapped. We quickly went out and purchased an identical lamp placing it behind a heavy piece of furnitre so it wouldn't be messed with and it's lasted and worked wonderfully.

I'd recommend purchasing the lamp, but make sure when you're handling or moving it that you be gentle, and don't keep it in an open space with young kids.

Customer Review: Perfect Lamp
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this lamp as a novelty item for my teen daughter's bedroom. She has a corner desk unit (rounded that doesn't snug the wall)and wanted something to fit right in the corner where the desk doesn't meet up with the wall. I also bought different colored light bulbs (purple, red, green, blue, pink, etc...another retailer even has clear bulbs with smiley faces painted on them). My daughter loves this lamp and I have to admit, it looks really nice tucked in the corner. It provides enough lighting to do her homework by (high setting), and when she adjusts the number of lights that are illuminated (low setting) it is perfect as a night light in her room. She changes the bulbs depending on the holiday. At Christmas, she had red and green bulbs in it...now she has red and pink for Valentines Day. She can't wait until fourth of July!
