Customer Review: DO NOT BUY THIS LAMP!!! REPEAT - DO NOT BUY THIS LAMP!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

DO NOT BUY THIS LAMP!!! REPEAT - DO NOT BUY THIS LAMP!!! When I saw this lamp in the store, I thought it would be great for my art corner, what with all the flexible gooseneck arms. The very same day that I bought it - WHILE FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR ASSEMBLY (screwing piece-by-piece from bottom to top) - the bottom pole wouldn't stay screwed to the base properly, such that every time I added a new piece it kept grinding itself loose from the base, so that by the time I was finished it ended up stripping the base completely, with flecks of metal from the stripped screw-base ending up all over the floor. I then took it back the next day, and exchanged it for a brand new one. This time however, instead of assembling it myself, I asked for assistance from my brother, who is certified in construction management and is competent in putting together just about anything. THAT SAME DAY, AS HE WAS ASSEMBLING IT, THE SAME THING HAPPENED (even though he tried a different method of assembly: putting together the entire top-half of the lampstand, and then attempting to screw it onto the base) - again, the lampstand wouldn't screw in properly to the base and quickly left the screw-base stripped and even more flecks of metal behind for me to vacuum up. Since I'd already gone through the hassle of returning it once before, during which they confiscated my receipt, I no longer had any way of returning my defective lamp; and since it was technically considered damaged, they refused to even let me exchange it for another one of the same defective kind. So I am now left with a useless lampbase and an unsupportable lampstand that I have to prop against my art table in order to keep it from leaning over or even falling over completely. The problem is that the lampstand, constructed of 3 screwed-together metal poles with the 5 gooseneck arms attached on top of them, ends up weighing a good 10 lbs with most of that weight in the goosenecks. However, on the base of the lamp where the lampstand is attached, the screw is only about 1/2 inch tall, if that. Half an inch is simply not enough support for a nearly 6-foot, 10-lb, top-heavy lampstand, not to mention withstanding the inevitable fumbling during first-time assembly, as well as strain from adjusting the gooseneck arms as desired. So what happens is that the insufficient screw-base becomes stripped - no matter how careful you are - and the lampstand becomes a lamp-lean - if you're lucky - and eventually a lamp-fall. This will happen every time, to every one of these lamps, to every unsuspecting customer. Take my advice and save yourself the time, the energy, and the inevitable bother of having to return this poorly-engineered lamp: DO NOT BUY THIS LAMP!!! One last time - DO NOT BUY THIS LAMP!!!
