There are hundreds of peelers on the market, but most can be classified into straight peelers and Y peelers (aka T peeler). This Tom Douglas Peeler belongs the latter. Now, I have been a straight peeler guy for all of my life and this is my first Y peeler. As such, I find the new motion slightly awkward. That being said, the Y peelers offers more power than the straight peelers and many people prefer the Y design. I shall judge this peeler based on its material, construction and design.
This is a beautiful peeler made from the high-grade 18/10 stainless steel, which means it is shiner and more rust-resistance than the typical 18/0 or 18/8 stainless steel. The peeler handle tilts left. This allows more precise and comfortable motion if you hold this peeler in your right hand and operate the peeler in a left-to-right + up-to-down motion. A left hander can also use it comfortably, but he will have to operate it in a front-to-back motion. In the end, this handle is designed for right handers. The peeler blade is unidirectional, which means you can only peel during the pulling motion, not the pushing motion. This is a common feature for Y peeler. The peeler also has a small side hook for removing blemishes (or any unwanted piece).
In the big picture, this peeler is one step above its less expensive competitors, but nothing more. Its true advantage is its high-grade 18/10 stainless steel, but it is not a revolutionary peeler. Currently, this peeler is being sold at a high price ($15-22). It is high even when compared to other famous brands, such as Oxo and Cuisinart ... . You can easily buy 2-3 other peelers with this money. Consequently, I am giving this peeler a four-stars for being a solid peeler but the performance-to-price ratio is low.

I cannot believe it has been a year. I am getting more comfortable with the Y-peeler motion. I have used the peeler maybe 10 times. I just don't use peelers very often. The peeler still cut very well and it has not rusted.
