Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Thermos Nissan Intak Hydration Water Bottle with Meter, BlueCustomer Review: Best water bottle ever! High quality Summary: 5 Stars
It really bothers me when people constantly drink bottled water and throw these bottles out. What a waste of money $$$ on bottled water and sodas nowadays, bad for your health due to BPA or sugary sodas and is also bad for the environment. This water bottle is the solution for a couple reasons.
1. This is definitely one of the best looking water bottles around. It is a good size for the amount of water, feels nice in my hand due to the unique shape and nice texture, fits nicely in cup holders and has a nice looking top to it. On the other side of the textured part, there is even marked measurement ounces in case you want to make some type of mixed drink. I got the blue color and it is looks real nice. Looks like high quality water bottle instead of those cheap and flimsy water bottles.
2. The top has a clever design to it. It has a nice push button that flips the lid. The lid flips open and stays open so it won't hit you in the nose as you tilt it and drink from it. It has leak proof design to it and even a lock to it. You can see a lot of thought went into this design.
3. I don't use the rotating meter but it is real nice to have. Rotate the meter when you take off the lid so you can check how much water you drink throughout the day.
4. THE WATER BOTTLE IS BPA FREE. This is the biggest reason why I am drinking from this water bottle. Those cheap, low quality water bottles and "mass produced bottled waters" deteriorate over time and you eventually start drinking BPA. I don't want to be drinking BPA in my water that is possibly linked to cancer and even brain damage.
Customer Review: Overpriced, top-heavy bottle Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this bottle because I thought it was a Thermos (with an insulating vacuum insert). That would have justified the high price.
Actually, this bottle is just Thermos brand. But it is not a "Thermos." It is only a plain, plastic bottle without an insulating Thermos insert.
The bottle has a weird, unbalanced shape. The high, narrow profile, narrow oval base and relatively heavy top make it unstable. It falls out of the cup holder in my car. I hate that. I have to leave it lying on its side on the seat. :-(
By the way, the "meter" is bogus. It doesn't measure the water dispensed by the bottle. It's a little ring with numbers that you can click to keep count of how much you drink during the day.
The bottle is expensive because of an inefficient design with lots of parts.
The only good thing about the bottle is that the spout is 1/2" across, so it dispenses water at a faster rate than most bottles with a simple click-up spout.
I'm only keeping it because the return postage isn't worth it. I'm disappointed by the product and don't recommend it. I consider it a defective design, although the product materials are of reasonable quality.
Customer Review: Pretty Good Summary: 4 Stars
I go through one of these bottles a year on average. I'm on my 3rd one now. The bottle has been sturdy for me; I've dropped it on concrete, asphalt, wood floors and carpet with no cracks! I use it daily and LOVE the rotating dial on the cap to help track how many bottles I've consumed each day. I run it through the dishwasher regularly-BUT-remove the rubber stopper/seal in the cap and put it in an appropriate basket BEFORE running the dishwasher, or else you may never locate it when the cycle completes:) I LOVE the way the cap closes on this bottle too! I work in a special education setting and when you set down your water bottle, you run the risk of the students getting your bottle and sneaking a gulp! The latch/push button combo deters all but the most determined kiddos:) The reason I replaced the first one was because I lost that little rubber stopper and the second one was replaced when the push button plastic edges attaching it to the cap broke down from wear and tear. No leaks, fits a standard vehicle cup holder, my 3.5 year old even uses it! Cute colors too!
Customer Review: So if you do lose the gasket... Summary: 5 Stars
Like many others I love this water bottle. It is easy to open, you can get a good water flow without getting it down your front, and most importantly it does not leak. I use mine all the freakin' time so it was no surprise that I eventually lost the gasket in the lid, that tiny piece of silicon that does the admirable work of keeping the water in the container.
I contacted Thermos and requested another one. Their customer service was awesome. The only thing better would be if I could order a new one online (I'm geeky that way) but the lady I talked to was very pleasant. I ordered 5 since they were only $1 each and I was sure I'd lose another one someday. I was a bit surprised that I didn't just receive the little gasket but the entire lid assembly. I double checked my receipt. Yes, I had ordered 5 $1 plus $3 for shipping and they charged me $8.
Stuff breaks and pieces get lost but good customer service and fair prices for replacement parts and shipping can make up for it.
Customer Review: Safety Concerns - Choking Hazzard Summary: 1 Stars
I loved my Intak Hydration bottle so much, that when I lost the rubber seal, I spent another $14.99 for a new bottle. It NEVER leaked, held up with being tossed around by the kids, stayed cool fairly longer than other non metallic bottles, is very easy to carry around, washes up great in the dishwasher, and NO plastic taste. I received compliments on it all the time. Unfortunately, its not worth the price every time the rubber seal goes missing. In addition, my 4 year old has almost drank the seal when it loosened and sat just inside the hole you drink from. I've since switched to another brand of similar design. I miss my Intak, but it's not worth the price of another bottle or my childs life. I have an email into the manufacturer....we'll see what they have to say about the choking hazzard. I know it's not intended for kids...but please, kids always drink from their parents cups, especially when you're out of the house running around.
