Customer Review: There is No Better 32oz Thermos

I purchased this when it 1st came out in 2009. I still use it ALL THE TIME and it works as well as the day I bought it. I fill it with my premixed (sugar & creamer added) HOT coffee & take it to work at 8am. I frequently have 1/2 a thermos left by the end of my day. Rather than toss it & make a fresh pot the next morning I leave it at work. When I arrive at 8am the coffee from the morning before is still hot & tasty! The trick for 24hr heat is this; Before you poor your hot drink in, fill it with scalding hot water and let it sit for about 2-3 minutes. As soon as you dump the water, fill it with your hot liquid goodness & keep the screw cap tightened any time you are not pouring yourself a cup. I have NEVER had a better thermos. I love this thing! The only improvement that would make it better is if instead of a screw top, it had a vacuum seal push button top and maybe some sort of carrying case for the times when you aren't slipping it in your backpack or workbag. Other than that, you wont find a better bottle of this size. Cleaning of this thermos is also a snap. You can either toss some soap in & hot water then swish it really well & rinse or do like I do & grab a bottle brush & scrub away.Customer Review: Insulates very well

I ordered this and a "Timolino 20 oz. @tanium II Vacuum Travel Mug" at the same time. While it is too large to be used as a coffee mug for work without getting some funny looks, its cap does function as a mug surprisingly well.
Once the cap is removed, an additional plastic cylinder can be partially unscrewed the contents, or removed completely to refill.
Good and bad:
+ Insulates incredibly well. After 5 hours, coffee is still piping hot.
+ Fits in a car cup holder (though can be too tall)
+ The inner seal is difficult to describe, but does not look like it would poor without spilling. In truth, it poors surprisingly well.
+
- Very, very tall.
- Much lower capacity than the outside appearance would suggest (large vacuum chamber).
- Expensive
The Thermos insulates better than the Timolino. This is probably because of the cap -- the Thermos uses three ayers of plastic and a layer of stainless steel, compared to the Timolino's single layer of plastic. That said, they are for different purposes, the thermos being more for travel and longer term storage; the Timolino for use as a wide-base office mug.

The Nissan Thermos FBB1000 is a sleek brushed stainless steel thermos with vacuum-sealed insulation and 875 mL storage capacity. The thermos exceeded my expectations on capacity to retain temperature of contents for extended periods of time.
After placing all 3 components in the freezer (-5 Celcius) for 10 minutes, I filled the thermos with 7 1-inch cylindrical ice cubes and immediately capped the thermos. It was placed in direct sunlight with daytime temperatures around 28 Celcius and nightime lows around 12 Celcius. After 48 hours, gentle shaking sounded like the contents remained frozen in ice. By day five, it remained mostly ice. Not until day 6.5 were the original ice cube contents in the thermos completely melted.
While I haven't measured temperatures of hot liquids, the FBB1000 was able to retain the temperature of hot coffee for at least 12 hours.
My rating of five stars for the Nissan Thermos FBB1000 is primarily based on:

Customer Review: Still Love it after 5 years, use Oxy Clean

I can't add much to earlier reviews. I have been using two. I make coffee by hand, and use them to keep it hot. They work well. Mine have gotten all dented from dropping them. I have broken the stoppers by dropping, and putting one in the garbage disposal. However they do sell replacement tops at a reasonable price, with low shipping. It was my fault that the stoppers broke, everything about the thermos has been durable on it's own account. I have found that Oxy Clean powder is the one cleaner that works. My coffee will leave a sludge eventually at the bottom after awhile if I do not rinse them immediately after use a number of times. Generally I just use a bottle scrub brush to clean them, but if that sludge get on the bottom or sides it is very difficult to clean, in fact just about impossible. Except with Oxy Clean. You just put some in and let is set for awhile, the sludge comes out. Otherwise your coffee starts taking on a bit of a taste from that. I have no affiliation to Oxy Clean, but it is a good product to clean things. And the only item I have found to really get these bottles clean if I have not been careful about rinsing the coffee with milk.Customer Review: No more bad office coffee!

Let's face it, the coffee at work (or in my case, the computer science department office) is horrid and undrinkable, right? It's dreck.
I've got a beautiful Chemex and french press at home with a good burr grinder and fresh beans, and I'm drinking Folger's--that's just wrong. No more! Despite my hour-and-a-half bus commute to university, I can now make a big fresh batch of coffee at home, bring it with me on the bus, and when it pour it, two hours later, it's still piping hot! Yes, this is more expensive than the $5.99 special at Java City, but:
a) the inside isn't plastic, it's stainless steel. No foul chemicals.
b) those things keep coffee hot for what, all of five minutes?
c) not to mention I can't exactly put those in my messenger bag for the bus ride without spilling over all my papers and books
d) anyone messes with me on the bus (I am in Houston, after all), I can beat them senseless with this thing. I'm pretty sure it's that sturdy.
Given the quality of construction, I expect this small $25 investment will pay for itself many times over. Definitely recommend.
