I was first recommended this by my veterinarian for my cat's eye infection. She is very prone to them and very susceptible to stress, too, which for some cats triggers these infections, so I needed to have this medicine handy and ordered it here. It is a bit more expensive (by two dollars) than what my vet charges, but then again my vet is not within walking distance and it is just easier to order online.
My cat tolerate this cream very well. Some, however, find it very painful and it is worth reminding that there are other products for those cats that hurt less.
It never cured my cat -it just makes her infections go in remission for a while, until the next flare up. I try to manage her herpes with l-lysine as well and her bouts aren't as severe, so she will only need a short course of treatment with Terramycin to get better. In my experience, a longer course doesn't necessarily help, but do check with your vet.
This product is also presently sold with Viralys, which is a l-lysine supplement, which also helps managing herpes in cats. I recommend the Viralys to go with the Terramycin. It is worth the extra money, because in sensitive cats the bouts will be greatly reduced.
Any cat owner or potential cat owner should have this ointment handy in a little cat pharmacy (after consulting with a vet). It is easy to apply, works fast and, even at this price, is cheaper than other products. It won't do miracles, but will help making life with a herpes positive cat much easier.
