Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Taylor Wireless Oven Thermometer with Remote PagerCustomer Review: Overall Great, occassional reset needed Summary: 4 StarsOverall this has served us well. The receiver has never had trouble connecting to the main box. The construction, while cheap-looking white plastic, looks like it will hold together fine for quite a while.
The only big problem we have had is that sometimes it locks up and won't tell u the right temperature. I find this in a couple of instances, but not totally sure of the cause. If the Meat is already been cooking for a while in the oven, the device seems to get confused. The confusion can happen a couple different ways, but the end result is that you have to unplug everything, re-seat the cord, and wiggle it a little, make sure it's in good, and then it seems to work again. Sometimes re-seating the batteries helps too. I thought it was hopelessly broken a couple times, only to put it down and pick it up weeks later, and it's fine.
go figure! still works great when it's working.
Description of Taylor Wireless Oven Thermometer with Remote PagerAudible Alarm signals when the food is done either from the base unit or remote Taylor's innovative remote thermometer lets the home chef monitor cooking without being tied to the kitchen. A durable transmitter and accompanying pager work in tandem to ensure meat is never overdone. To operate, insert the transmitter's 6-inch steel probe into the main course and place it in the oven. The probe's heat resistant chord travels from inside the oven, past a closed oven door, and connects to the transmitter sitting on a nearby countertop. Control settings can be set by type of meat or user-selected temperature. When ready, the transmitter sends a signal--reaching up to 120 feet--to trigger an audible alarm. If temperature monitoring is not needed, the versatile base unit can also function as a simple timer. Both transmitter and pager feature sturdy plastic construction and offer a clear digital number display. The transmitter requires one 9-volt battery while the pager runs with two AAAs--batteries not included with purchase. This product can be used when oven cooking or grilling and comes with a 1-year warranty. -- Amy Arnold What's in the Box Transmitter, pager, 6-inch steel probe.
