Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Taylor Oven Guide ThermometerCustomer Review: Some problems but a good basic thermometer Summary: 3 Stars
My thermometer came with half the liquid at the upper end of the tube; I was able to 'shake it down' like an old medical thermometer and it seems to work fine now. My impression is that it may be reading a little low (about 20 degrees). Good because the liquid is not mercury!
Customer Review: Useless Summary: 1 Stars
I, too, bought this thermometer based on the test kitchen equipment review. I accidentally knocked it over, and it fell through the grates into the heating element while the oven was on. The numbers rubbed off after that, and I can't read this greatest of oven thermometers.
Customer Review: Oven Thermometer Summary: 4 Stars
I like this thermometer and it gives me an accurate temp. for the oven. The only thing that I wish was better is the size of the numbers on the degree number line. They are on the small size and rather hard to read without pulling the tehermometer out of the oven.
Customer Review: stopped working Summary: 1 Stars
Similar to another reviewer, I bought this at the recommendation of a respected test cooking kitchen. It quit working after a year. Also found that the metal hook on top (that allows it to hang from an oven rack) scratched the bottom of all my metal baking pans.
Customer Review: Oven Thermometers are extremely Important Summary: 5 Stars
Very few ovens temperatures are correct. I keep two different brands of thermometer in my oven. The one highly recommended by Cook's Illustrated it the Taylor Oven Guide Thermometer. I also keep a few extra to give as small tokens to my wonderful friends.
