Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Taylor Oven Guide Thermometer

Customer Review: Puzzled
Summary: 4 Stars

The Taylor Thermometer has made baking and roasting recipes come out a lot better. It is a lot more accurate than the oven gage and spring thermometers that I have used. I am puzzled as where to place it in the oven as it is large and gets in the way. Unless your oven is eye level it is hard to read. This could be remedied by turning the bulb 45 degrees up when it was made so you are looking down at the wide line.

Customer Review: Taylor Thermometers Classic Oven Guide 5921N
Summary: 3 Stars

After using this for about 8 months I noticed that the temperature numbers have faded badly enough that I must use a flashlight in addition to the oven light to check the temp through the glass oven door. This makes the device frustrating to use and I would have thought the manufacturer anticipated the heat factor in choosing the paint for the numbers. On a positive note, the thermometer is accurate in its reading.

Customer Review: Great oven thermometer
Summary: 5 Stars

I use this for baking polymer clay items in a toaster oven. Polymer clay requires very precise temperatures, and the typical dial oven thermometers were not only very very slow to register temp changes, but also inaccurate. My beads would eithe rcomout burned or undrebaked. This one shows temperature changes immediately, sits conveniently at the back of the oven. With this one there have been no more burned beads!

Customer Review: Bad design.

I, too, bought this because it was highly rated by Cook's. Contrary to their review, however, I find it neither easy to read nor stable. After it gets a little dirty (which won't take long in the oven) it is nearly impossible to read. And if you rest it on top of a rack you will knock it over when you put anything in the oven. If you hang it will also get knocked over. It is accurate though.

Customer Review: Life span
Summary: 2 Stars

The temperature markings on this thermometer are not protected! Over time the markings get occluded by grease and if you try to wash the grease off the markings come with it. This means the thermometer has a short life span for people who rely on the markings for anything (which granted is not everyone). Last time I buy an oven thermometer in which the markings don't sit behind a glass face!.
