Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Taylor Oven Guide ThermometerCustomer Review: Taylor Oven Guide Thermometer Summary: 4 Stars
I picked this one because it was easy to read, can hang on the rack, or place on the rack.
The only thing bad about it was it can break easily if you are not careful. I broke the first one I received because I was baking many items and it got push off or smashed in the oven by the pans. It is best to remember to move the thermometer to a safe place in the oven if you are baking several things. ...like the bottom floor of the oven.
Customer Review: excellent oven thermometer Summary: 4 Stars
Very accurate! This thermometer helps us monitor and adjust the temps in our oven throughout the cooking process. Just because your oven is 10 degrees hot at 350 degrees does not necessarily mean that it will be 10 degrees hot at say 450 degrees. I like the flexibility to hang the thermometer from the front of the oven rack but, I wish the numbers were a bit bigger. Perhaps it is only difficult to read for the older set, like me! Great buy!
Customer Review: Not Too Acurate Summary: 2 Stars
The thermometer read 200 degrees when I put it into boiling water. Can't tell if the error is consistent over all temperatures.
As others have pointed out, the numbers are printed on metal and will wear off if cleaned too vigorously.
So, for a few dollars and for a few months, I'll have a rough idea of the oven temperature. Not what I want, but there don't seem to be other thermometers that are any better.
Customer Review: Quality Talyor Oven Guide Thermometer Summary: 4 Stars
I have had this oven thermometer for four months now and it is fantastic. I have taken good care not to wash it with anything abrasive like steel wool and I have not lost the numbering system. It is easy to hang on any rack in the oven. My only complaint would be that the fluid be a different color so that the contrast would be greater between the fluid and the metal. It is hard to read it through the glass of the oven door.
Customer Review: Checked calibration of oven with TWO thermometers! Summary: 5 Stars
Taylor Oven Guide Thermometer
Believing two thermometers are necessary to verify the calibration of our oven, I purchased this Taylor Oven Guide Thermometer model together with the Sunbeam, 90300, Oven Thermometer, Stainless Steel. Both read within two degrees of each other and the oven itself was right on the money!
