Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Taylor Large Number Mechanical Timer

Customer Review: Useless!!
Summary: 1 Stars

When I opened the box and picked up the timer's package, the timer fell out! The package was already open! I don't know if Amazon just shipped me someone's reject or if the glue holding the package together just gave way. I wound up the timer for a couple of minutes, and as expected it tick-tick-ticked down in that classic old timer way. However, when it reached zero.. nothing happened. I turned it up again and tick-tick-tick ... nothing. No ring! Based on all the other 1-star reviews, I won't even bother exchanging this. I'm just going to get my money back.

Customer Review: Piece of Junk...
Summary: 2 Stars

Read the description carefully--it's a MECHANICAL timer. The alarm is armed with the spring-loaded dial. So the length is determined by the amount of winding you put to the dial--not very accurate and the alarm bell lasts only as much as you wind the dial--its sound is very harsh and gradually dies down as the spring winds down.
I suppose this alarm could be good for the elderly because of its large numbers on the face and the dial...

Customer Review: Cheap plastic
Summary: 1 Stars

Its an oven timer, right? So why is it made out of cheap plastic that CAN MELT? The first time it was used was also the last time it was used because it was left on top of the oven while I baked a batch of cookies. The heat from the oven melted the back of the timer. Good thing I also used the timer on the oven clock as a back up or I may have had to pitch the timer AND the cookies. Even if this product were free, I would not use one.

Customer Review: "Out-of-date" Is Not Always Bad
Summary: 5 Stars

I have my neat little multi-setting timer with it's melodius little ping. Rather, I will have ... as soon as I find the right replacement battery. This 1950's relic (almost a twin to my very first timer) is dependable, loud enough to arouse you out of the most interesting book, long lasting, and easy to use. I searched for it, found it, and my delight is definitely five star.

Customer Review: Dead On Arrival!
Summary: 1 Stars

Poor QC! Looked good, price was right- but only the bell worked when taken out of package! Since this was part of a birthday gift, very disappointing. Would have cost me half the purchase price to return it, so simply writing it off. Will replace with timer from another manufacturer.
