Had to replace my digital food thermometer after inadvertantly melting one by leaving it too close to the BBQ. This one is simple to use, accurate and a great value. Simply turn it on, insert into whatever you're cooking and read the result. It appears to be highly accurate. Only two switches: on/off and C/F. One important note: be sure to turn it off after using. There is no auto-off and it would be very easy to waste a battery in the first use. It somes with a convenient sleeve with a shirt clip and an additional bettery.Customer Review: A good little thermometer

This is the second Taylor thermometer that I have purchased. Somehow I lost the first one. It is accurate and very useful for cooking meats. During the summer I grill and need to have something to let me know the internal temperature of the meats, especially chicken and pork tenderloin. This product is easy to clean. The only problem is that it is rather a small item and I think that was how I lost the other - it somehow got thrown out with the garbage. I would recommend this product however and the price is certainly right.Customer Review: Not good enough to use - waste of money

It reacts way too slowly. You can't leave it in whatever you're measuring since it's not liquid proof or heat proof. So you stand there with the oven door open watching it slowwwly climb to the actual temperature.
The diameter of the probe is bigger than necessary, so it pokes a large hole in the food.
The switch is too delicate to last. Turn it on/off once and it's obvious.
I've never used it past the first two times I used it....shoulda returned it but I waited too long.

Just a quick note, this is an almost instant read thermometer. On average, it takes between 2-4 seconds for a final accurate reading. However, DO NOT TURN IT ON UNTIL YOU HAVE IT INSERTED. I read plenty of reviews stating it takes 30 seconds to record. If you turn it on, it will start at the temperature of the room and crawl up slowly (usually only a few degrees at time). This will be quite frustrating and useless.
Remember, insert it, then turn it on...and BINGO, you are in business.

Works just as it supposed to. Even comes with an extra battery. Very convenient. I got mine to use with my outdoor grill and it is perfect for that b/c sometimes you want something on the rare side, but you want to make sure it is cooked to a certain temp. internally. It's instant read feature is the best, b/c you don't have to wait like an analog thermometer and risk overcooking on a hot grill! BTW, it clearly states on the package that this unit is NOT to be left in the oven like an analog unit.
