Customer Review: Not nearly as useful as its predecessor

I bought this timer to replace an older Taylor dual timer (Amazon ASIN B0007NIIPE). The old timer worked well for 5 years, and died recently. It is no longer produced. I bought this timer, because it is made by the same company, and looks superficially similar.
There are several ways that it is inferior to the old timer. First, the old timer would sound a brief alert 5 minutes before time was up. The new one does not.
Second, when time was up on the old timer, pressing "Start/Stop" once would silence the alarm, but the timer would continue to count up. Pressing "Start/Stop" a second time would stop the count-up timer. On this product, it still counts up when the alarm goes off, but pressing "Start/Stop" to silence the alarm also stops the count-up timer. This is probably the most important shortcoming to me; I found the count-up after count-down to be an essential feature.
Third, when you pressed "Reset" once on the old timer, it would reset to the last-used duration. Pressing it a second time would reset to zero. This feature was useful for making multiple batches of cookies, for example. The new timer always resets to zero.
Fourth, if you reset the old timer to zero and pressed "Start/Stop", it would count up for zero. The new one just sits there, blinking at you like an idiot.
This timer is a pale imitation of its predecessor; it fails to repeat the simple successes of the old timer.
