Customer Review: Mine shows 10 to 20 degrees lower than actual temp!

I have kept this thermometer in our Sub-Zero for several years and love the looks and adjustable angle. However, mine is not even close to correct at this point. I didn't realize until last week that it is over 10 degrees off. Unfortunately, I discovered it when it seemed the milk wasn't as cold as it should be. It turns out that the refrigerator thermostat had failed. After throwing a bunch of perishables out and getting the thermostat fixed, I used this thermometer to adjust the setting and I was surprised that at #7 - where I have kept the dial in the past, the thermometer was reporting 25 degrees. So I adjusted the temp upward, eventually to #3 so the fridge was just under 40 degrees in the morning according to the Taylor thermometer. That day I realized that the milk did not seem very cold. So I got another thermometer (bulb type) and after an hour checked them both. The Taylor 507 reported around 38 and the bulb thermometer nearly 50.
AT that point I adjusted the fridge up to #6 and waited a couple hours to make sure it was cooling. The next morning the 507 reported around 25 degrees and the bulb right about 35. I then put a plastic cup of water right next to the thermometer overnight and there was no ice forming in the cup - additional evidence that the Taylor was wrong.
I checked the freezer temp with both thermometers and the 507 reported -20 while the bulb reported +2. Now I have it out on the kitchen counter where it reports 58 degrees. I realize that the thermometer only reads up to 65 degrees, but we keep our house at 75, so I would expect the thermometer to be pegged as in the picture on this page. I hate to throw this pretty thing in the trash, but it can't be trusted.
It has never been dropped to my knowledge, so not sure why it if off. I guess the lesson is to use a liquid bulb type thermometer - I don't think they can ever change if correct in the first place.
