Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Tagco Roasted Garlic Express Electric Roaster - WHITECustomer Review: Easy way to make perfect roasted garlic! (But needs some improvements) Summary: 4 Stars
I was so surprised when I received this garlic cooker. I guess I expected it to be small, but it is large enough to hold 4 big heads of garlic! (It measures 7inches x 7 inches) It comes with a clay insert that you wet before putting in the special garlic tray. It's quite easy to clean and I like it that I don't need to heat up my oven to make yummy roasted garlic.
I would have liked a count down timer so I knew how much time was left, instead the light goes out and that's the only indication you have that it's ready. Even a little beep sound would be nice. In addition, I don't think that 30 minutes is enough time and my garlic was not as soft as I like it. I cook for another 10 minutes (popping the garlic tray out and adding more water to the clay insert with a turkey baster). For these two reasons I have marked down to a 4 star even though I adore this kitchen appliance and use it quite often.
Customer Review: garlic cooker Summary: 5 Stars
There is no need to heat up the house or waste energy when you can use this cooker. I loved it so much I bought another. I wish it was bigger!. You dont need to use oil like the directions say- causing burns to your hands and a mess... nor do you need to cut off the tops which wastes garlic!! Just wet the ceramic ring and leave water pooling in the ring , add the black tray, place enough water to just fill the bottom of the garlic tray, and shove as much garlic into it as you can, make sure to rub as much of the garlic skins off first and that the top fully closes. Press button and go do something else. Light will go off in 24 minutes. I let the unit sit for another half hour to cool dowm, then remove the garlic cloves and cut the larger heads in half and squeeze both.
perfect garlic for cooking, eating as is, or like me to feed to my chickens for parasite control.
Customer Review: Quickly roast garlic for a restaurant quality snack. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought one from the Sharper Image store for $35 and it was well worth the $$$. The roasted garlic is just like the appetizer you get at nice restaurants -- buttery texture / lightly caramelized flavor you can easily spread with a butter knife. This machine is great for making garlic bread or roasting garlic to put with mashed potatoes. I've been spreading the garlic from it on my hamburger buns when I make burgers and it's awesome. It works really quickly (1 button press and 27 mins) and cleanup is super easy. My only complaint is the "cooking area" for the garlic is a bit smaller than you'd think for the size of the unit. It says you can cook three bubls in there but the garlic I buy must be bigger because I can usually only get one large garlic bulb to fit at a time.
Customer Review: The good and the bad of the Tagco Garlic Cooker. Summary: 3 Stars
The good is it is as easy to roast garlic as you could hope. Also, you don't have to heat the whole oven and house to cook the garlic. The down side is an issues of preference. I like roasted garlic somewhat caramalized. Actually, I think it's great when a few of the cloves are almost crispy. I couldn't get this with Tagco Garlic Cooker. There is a ceramic "donut" at the bottom of the cooker that adds moisture. Even when I don't add moisture the garlic comes out fully cooked but soft. I've tried to cook the cloves twice. The garlic get closer to how I like it but: No Cigar.
It is fast and easy. Cleanup is a breeze. It's easy to store too.
Customer Review: Fabulous Roater! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm such a huge fan of this garlic roaster. It really is simple to use, my apartment smells amazing to me, it reminds me of an old Italian restaurant. The only thing i will say, is that it really only holds 2 bulbs at 1 time. With 3, it doesn't seem to hold them very well. But, for myself, i only do 1 bulb usually at a time anyways. I love how simple it is to make restaurant-style garlic butter, mashed potatoes, etc. It's not a big appliance, and well worth the money.
