They had a couple of chips in them, but not so bad as to send them back. They still seem serviceable. Imagine sending a dinner plate packed in a cardboard box without packing. That was as these were shipped.
These are unglazed though, so just rinse and rub under running water and they are good to go. Not as different from the stoneware "pampered chef" line.
