When my last toaster gave out, I was subscribing to Consumer Reports which rated this toaster as being one of the best, if not "the" best.........forget just what issue that was, but since I definitely wanted a 4 slice one and stainless steel, this was it. I don't find it toasts any faster than any other toaster I've had, but it does a decent job, and I do like the feature that allows you to raise up smaller bread and English muffins, no more having to stabbing them with a knife or fork! I think it does a decent job, what do you expect from a toaster? I love the stainless steel and "art deco" look. I'd buy it again.Customer Review: OK, But

I use my toaster mostly for English Muffins which are hard to remove from most toasters. When I saw that there was a lever on this toaster that would lift the item in the toaster for easy removal, I thought someone had heard my prayers (imagine, praying for the right toaster!) so I bought it.
It came as advertised and I suppose with regular toast it works OK. But I still have a problem getting my English Muffins out because the lever does not lift them high enough for easy removal. Guess I need to start praying again.
Other than that, it's a good toaster.

I am not the type to gush about household appliances, especially a toaster. After all, the mandate in toaster production is quite simple, manufacture a machine that makes toast. Well, this initial naivete has been long since dispelled after the purchase of over a dozen toasters, none of which did the thing they are supposed to do - make toast.
All of that changed with the purchase of this toaster. What a well engineered piece of equipment that does perfectly what it is supposed to do - make toast. Don't look any further, if you're looking for a machine that does its job well, this is it.

We recently purchased the T-Fal Avante four slice toaster after searching many different brands. I selected the T-Fal as the style was different since the toast is easy to see while preparing. I get a lot of compliments on the design. The bagel function toasts bagels to perfection. Construction is good quality not tinny as many models are. This toaster is able to handle wide toast securely so it toasts evenly. The release button brings the toast to the top without having to dig into the toaster. The toaster is somewhat large if you have small counter space, but I feel it is worth the size.Customer Review: Nice features for a toaster

I bought this toaster for my wife after we did a kitchen remodel which includes a change to black with colored chips resin countertop. The old toaster did not fit in, and my wife had commented about changing to a toaster that handled bagels better. This toaster has a bagel and defrost feature, and an especially handy "lift-out" lever that raises even English muffins to a height where you don't have to pry into the slot to retreive them.
