Not happy at all with this item. I received this Electric Kettle the day after I ordered it. I purchased it based on the excellent service we had gotten from another T-Fal Kettle (almost 5 years of heavy usage). I plugged the new kettle in and it worked the first time ONLY!!!! The switch kept malfunctioning every time after that - I tried the kettle at several different outlets with the same result. I returned the item and got a refund. I subsequently purchased a Chefs Choice International Kettle also from Amazon and it works perfectly.

What a great electric kettle! We can have a pot of water at a rolling boil, or at just a steamy simmer, in mere minutes -- perfect for tea or anything else needing hot water. No fear of heating a dry kettle on the stove and burning the bottom. No fear of lugging a hot kettle over to a cup and scalding your fingers on the sides or bottom of the kettle. The T-Fall "Vitesse" Electric Kettle provides hot water of varying temperature -- and it does it quickly, quietly, and safely! I removed the kettle from it's carton,read the instructions,attempted to heat some water to no avail. After calling the T-Fal customer service number,I was instructed to fax my receipt to them (cost $2). They mailed me a
return address label (4 days later). I had to drive 20 miles to a UPS Store to return the defective kettle to the
T-Fal "repair facility". After three weeks without a kettle, I again called T-Fal customer service. They advised
me that the repair of my new and defective kettle would take 4-6 weeks.

I purchased a T-Fal Vitesse electric kettle ten years ago and loved it. This model, however, literally stinks. It has a terrible plastic smell that permeates any liquid which is heated within it. Just open the lid and take a deep breath and you realize that something isn't right. I even question whether or not it is a genuine T-Fal product since the name is mis-spelled "Vitesses" instead of "Vitesse". I hope it's a rip-off because it would be a real shame for T-Fal to be selling unusable crap like this. Made in China, of course.Customer Review: Plastic Kettle

The T-Fal BF6520004 Vitesse 7-Cup Electric Kettlepurchased a short time ago has provided good service.However the body of the kettle is plastic and I don't know if this will bleed chemicals into the water.The photos looked as if the inside of the device was lined with stainless steel.The last two T-Fal kettles I purchased were all stainless steel and are still in service after several years and are extremely resistent to scale.
