It does what it's supposed to - heat water quickly. It's nicely designed, and the clear panel lets you confirm what's happening inside.
Be aware that it is LOUD. You'll have to shout to be heard over the noise.
The dial setting on the front of the unit was deceiving. Although the red graphic at the top of the dial implies a variable temperature setting, the unit seems to have only two settings: hot water and boiling water. Turn the dial all the way to the left to get a cup of hot water for diluting previously brewed tea concentrate (tea from a pot with 5-6 bags or a similar quantity of loose leaves). Turn the dial all the way to the right to get boiling water for brewing tea.
The instructions were not prepared by a native speaker of English and were not helpful.

I read lots of reviews for electric kettles before purchasing this one. I have been very happy with it. It is very fast (3 1/2 minutes for minimum water amount, 7 1/2 for full amount)and the electronic shut-off has already proven very helpful as a safety feature. I wish it maintained the hot temperature better, but plastic doesn't insulate very well. You can heat again after a 15-minute cool down period, so it's not that inconvenient. I noticed a plastic smell the first few times, but followed the directions for cleaning and using baking soda. I only ever noticed a bit of a smell, never a taste, and I don't notice it anymore after a few weeks of use. This dramatically speeds the time for boiling water for pasta on the stovetop when I start with water from the kettle. All in all, it's a great kettle.Customer Review: Great electric kettle!

This is the first electric kettle I have owned and I love it! I have owned it for about a month and I mainly use it to make tea and instant grits. I wish they still sold the smaller version, but this one still takes up very little counter space. I ultimately bought this one over other smaller kettles because of all the features is offers. It definitely brings water to boil quickly. I like that you can adjust the temperature as well, from ready to sip to full boil. It was important for me to buy a cordless kettle, and this one is great. Fits well on it's base. I have had no trouble with a plastic taste in my water. For those that do, the instruction manual covers that scenario; use it 2 or 3 times until the taste goes away. Overall I am greatly satisfied with my purchase and recommend it to others.Customer Review: Works as I expected

I spent six months in the UK and when I came back, I immediately had to get an electric kettle since I was so dependent on one when I was in the UK. Unfortunately, it was much more difficult than I expected to find one that looked decent and felt well-constructed. I was sad to discover that the highly-rated Braun kettle was no longer sold in the US. I checked out a number of the other popular kettles at local stores and found some flaw with all of them.
The T-Fal kettle was the one that looked most similar to the kettles they sell in the UK. I have used the kettle for a few days now and am extremely pleased with its performance. It boils a liter of water in about 4 minutes. The temperature knob is really useful since you're not supposed to use boiling water for more delicate teas.

I use for making cups of coffee by the cup to get water boiling quick. See cook's illustrated ranking this as the way to make the perfect cup of coffee.
What I like
1. Available on Amazon Prime
2. Capacity good at 1.7L (some are too small).
3. Easy to pour in water as top opens easily
4. Temp control good for slight variations in heat of water
5. Low price for chosen parameters
I still like Braun better but was not available on Prime:
1. Braun has cleaner styling.
2. Braun has better indicator on side of how much water you have poured in (e.g., one line for each cup of water up to 8). Vitesse only has 3 lines...
3. I think Braun a little faster on the boil
Its too early to judge durability.
