Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of T-Fal Initiatives 10-Piece Nonstick Inside and OutCustomer Review: Beware the "life time" warranty - it will cost you Summary: 1 Stars
We have purchased several t-fal products over the years, including the more expensive professional grade products. In August we purchased a set of frying pans, which worked fine for about 3 months and then the coating started to bubble up and peel off. When I called consumer services, the representative informed me that I would have to pay to ship the defective frying pans back to them at my own expense. T-fal's website even suggests that I spend extra to insure the package. The representative informed me that t-fal would not pay for shipping because they would not know if the product was defective until they received it. Of course, no offer was made to reimburse me once they received the defective product and to make matters worse, I was told that had I returned the product within 30 days they would have provided a shipping label. I guess if it is within 30 days they don't care if it is defective or not. As these particular frying pans only cost us $25 dollars, spending close to $15 to return them did not make any sense. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that no one was available. Needless to say, I threw the pans out and will not be purchasing any t-fal products in the future. I have lost all confidence in the product and respect for the company.
Customer Review: Misleading photo and description Summary: 4 Stars
I'm am very mad at Amazon concerning this product. I purchased it expecting the product description to accurately depict the set. It stated then, and now: Domed stainless-steel lids with adjustable knobs to vent steam. The picture seemed to show glass lids. When I received my set, the box had printed on it that it was a replacement for the set I wanted- and the pots had glass lids. I rightfully complained and was financially compensated a little because of the difficulty it would have been to repack everything and take it to someplace to return to Amazon. It was heavy, too. All I wanted was for Amazon to correct the item description.
I sent in a correction request to them, which is available on the listing page, and talked to a supervisor when I complained. They said it would be corrected. Now I get a request to share my opinion and I see nothing has been done in a month. You should get what you ordered. I really wanted stainless steel lids because of my age, in case I dropped the glass lids. I didn't want to drive anywhere carrying a large, heavy box and just get a full refund and not the set I ordered. Bad cust. service from Amazon! I'm angry at Amazon every time I use my pots.
Customer Review: Great deal for the price! Summary: 5 Stars
I recieved this set two years ago as a gift, and have been completely satisfied with nearly every aspect of these pans! Even my boyfriend, who has the ability to burn any food you can think of, has not been able to damage the non-stick coating on these pans. The one main factor that has made the set last so long is that we make sure not to use metal utensils when cooking (you can get cheap, heat resistant utensils from Target for about $2 each which hold up equally as well). We also never put these in the dishwasher, and wash them by hand with a non-scratching sponge. The only downside to the set is the construction of the lids for the saucepans. They only fit on the saucepans and aren't meant to be placed on the saute pans which may make it hard to make some meals. Also, the handle portion of the lids is detachable, and when the two are reattached the fit is loose. The lid sometimes feels like it may come apart from the handle when I'm using it which is slightly annoying. While the lids might not be great, the pans are definitely worth owning (especially for the college student!) and at Amazon's price, they are definitely affordable.
Customer Review: Unbeatable value, if you get it on sale Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this set roughly four years ago, possibly longer, and it still looks relatively new. I think they'll last as long as I want them around. They're feather light and the nonstick still performs flawlessly. The thermospot seems a gimmick, I don't need a spot to tell me when the pan is hot, but it does work, which is admittedly cool. The light weight of these pans make cleanup a snap, and heat spreads quickly and evenly.
The people who complain about the nonstick cracking or coming off must be clueless to cookware care. Hand wash ANY nonstick items you have, dishwashers do a wonderful job of ruining the finish. Cooking on your stove's "high" setting is not only unnecessary, it's harmful to your pans (as stated in the manual). Lastly, be sure you're using utensils appropriate for nonstick. People that ruin cookware and blame it on the craftsmanship rank up there with those who say their $300 knives rusted after leaving them overnight in the dishwasher.
Customer Review: get these first! Summary: 5 Stars
Moved into my own apartment a few months ago and bought a cheap set of Mirro cookware to save money. Big mistake. Everything I cooked stuck to the bottom of the pans, some so bad even steel wool wouldn't remove it. Fed up, I broke down and spent the extra money for this set.
Haven't regretted it. The non-stick surface makes it so easy to stir and the food slides right out when done. I could wipe them clean with a paper towel if I really wanted to. The unique handle release design makes it easy to let out the steam. I had to blalance the lids off center to do that with my old pans. I also love the thermospot. The only complaint I have is that there is not a lid for the largest skillet. (this is not a huge deal as the lids for the two largest pots fit the two smallest skillets however) Do yourself a favor and get these first! They are the only set you will need!
