This filter replaces one that is more than 22 years old. That one was sold by Braun, but made by SwissGold. It has always worked beautifully, but after 7000+ uses and trips through the dishwasher it is showing its age. I figure I spent probably $20 for it back in the 80s. I could have purchased Melitta filters in bulk over the years, and spent a minimum of $325. Yes, you can buy a "gold tone" metal filter that is cheaper.Customer Review: No problems

After viewing other reviews, I was a bit worried about spending the money for this, but it arrived in fine condition with no dents and was not misshapen. I have taken care not to "bang" the grounds out of the filter, as even the cheaper baskets with thinner and less rigid gold mesh will separate at the seams if care is not taken. I'll see how long it holds up, but I'm pleased with it so far after about a month.Customer Review: To big!

I gave a low review, because the filter was too large for my Coffee maker, now this could be a coffee maker error, but I'm not to sure of that. Also it was bent in a few places, which was unfortunate for the price they charge. My brother, who roasts his own coffee, recommended this filter. We are so happy that we bought it. We used paper filters and when we switched to the Swissgold filter, we noticed the change in the taste of the coffee, it was much better! If you love good coffee, this filter will allow all of the flavor to come through. I am very happy with it!Customer Review: Makes a great cup!

I use this filter every morning in my drip coffee maker. This makes a huge difference in the taste of the coffee compared to using paper filters. Did I mention that reuseable filters pay for themselves because you no longer buy paper ones and that less waste is produced? Better tasting coffee + more environmentally friendly = win.
