Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Sweater StoneCustomer Review: not so great Summary: 2 Stars
First, this actually does take the fuzz balls off. However it makes a complete mess. I did it outside on the patio and I am glad I did or it would have been all over the house. The grit is very annoying. And there is no way it will last as long as it says. I did one sweater and already am wearing down the corners. I think it might last for maybe 10 sweaters total. And I think I am alergic to it. I shook and hit my sweater after I used it to try and get all the grit off it and also used a lint roler. But there was enough left on it that I was itching all night long at work and my skin was kind of numb. If I use it again I will have to make sure I wash the sweater before I wear it.
Customer Review: Works really well Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the sweater stone to remove the pills off my sheets, and, boy, does it work well. It arrived in the mail yesterday, and within a half hour, I had all the little annoying pills removed from my king-sized bed.
It is very important to have a lint-roller handy. The pills end up piled everywhere, and the stone itself also discharges some sort of "sand". I needed a ton of lint-roller sheets to tidy up (so be sure to have a full roll), but afterwards: bliss. What seemed to be an unsolvable problem is now no more with just a little bit of work.
Tip: I find it worked best when I angled the stone up a bit and "combed" the pills with the edge of the stone.
Customer Review: Just OK; tore holes in some items Summary: 2 Stars
I used this item on a sweater, sweatshirt, and sweatpants. While it did remove some pilling it didn't make an AMAZING difference. Then I used it on another sweatshirt and sweatpants. It tore 9 holes along the sideseam of my sweatshirt!!! Then I tried it even more gently on the matching pants. It tore one hole in them and I stopped. These are high quality sweats too from a very well know outdoor outfitter. I doubt I will try this stone again b/c I don't want to take a chance on it harming another garment. I have used electric shavers and the little handheld sweater shaver that sells for around 4 or 5 dollars. I will go back to those.
Customer Review: Doesn't work. Not even worth it if it was $1.00 Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this product so I could save on batteries from the sweater shavers. Reviews were mixed, so I tried.
All I was trying to do was to get pills off of sweatshirts. While the stone didn't ruin any fabric, I could see it happening on some things.
But it doesn't work at all. Anything you use it on has to be washed afterward because of the pumice-like dusty residue that you wouldn't want to wear. The stone comes with a warning about this dust being unhealthy.
Don't buy this stone, it doesn't work, may harm your clothes, and has an annoying feel.
Customer Review: Works great. Summary: 5 Stars
This does work. It also requires time, especially if things are really full of pills. And crumbly bits of the stone do break off. If you have 20 extra minutes a night and are willing to spend it working on your nice sweaters, then this purchase will be worth it for you. Use it an angle, don't press too hard, and use some kind of lint roller to pick up the pills after they've been removed. Then vacuum the area in which you were working.
If you do not have a minute to spare, this will not be a worthwhile purchase for you.
