I was happily excited about ordering this item, the"Sundesa Blenderbottle with Blenderball." It held a full 30 ounces, and was a recommended accessory for NOW Whey Protein, which I bought, together with the blender-ball, in the 10 pound size, chocolate-flavour.
When I received this item, I was happy to discover that it also has measuring markings, in ounces and millitres. But when I tried to use it to blend the whey-protein and some milk into a milkshake-like nutritious treat....the blender ball bottle failed utterly. It left clumps of barely dissolved chocolate whey powder "swimming" amidst the mostly still-white milk, and, looking at it, I found myself thinking of various small islands popping up in a tropical sea, each surrounded completely by water. A few scenes of the few episodes of the TV program: "Survivor", which I have seen, suddenly popped into my mind as well. And I then found myself thinking that if the contestants on "Survivor" had had to drink THIS mess, they certainly wouldn't have liked it....to say the least.
The only way I was FINALLY able to drink the NOW brand whey, was to grind it, while still dry, and THEN put it together with milk and blend it in my blender. The Sundessa BlenderBall Bottle With Blenderball sure didn't work here.....
The bottle proved wide enough to be able to hand-wash easily....but while washing it, I noticed how very thick and firm, is the plastic from which the bottle is made. I ordered this a while back -- so I don't remember if the plastic bag covering the new blender-bottle gave the number of the plastic. I know there is NO number on the bottom of the bottle itself. But my hazy "6th sense" memory, (remembring -- perhaps -- if there was a "number" written on the end of the plastic bag which housed my blender-bottle when it was new, and also the firmess of the plastic frin which the bottle is made,
both lead me to believe that it is made of the dreaded "plastic No. 7"...THE worst plastic for re-use. Certainly, containers made of No. 7 plastic should NEVER be used, (or, perish the thought, RE-used), to hold HOT beverages. (Because the platic in the bottle might just melt into the hot liquid, however slightly, if it was used with hot liquid!) And I, at least, have have used it for hot
beverages, and probably never will.
This is a pity...because the 30-ounce Blenderball container is THE perfect size FOR Iced-tea! And for Iced-coffee, as well.
What do I use the blenderbottle for? Well, the slight action of the blender-ball DOES help to blend water and conentrated juice. It also makes a good measuring device, and holds both ice-tea spoons and newly-used tea-bags very well. With the use of a nice, long iced-tea spoon, it also makes a nice ice-cream dish. (I figure that ICED-cream iss the farthest thing from HOT liquids, so...though it may not be the best thing to do with a container possibly made of No. 7 plastic...I do use it as an ice-cream dish...)
The top-- when it is used -- goes on and off easily. And here is a convenient hole for a straw.
But blending of anything more dense than concentrated juice, (thawed to begin with, at that), is impossible for me to do in the blender-ball. Other reviewers say they can do the blending, say, of whey and milk, easily in this blender-ball. But perhaps this is because they already have most of the energy that the whey-milk drink is supposed to give.....
