Customer Review: Fun but needs better recipes

The electric donut maker works as it should and is a fun product. Easy as can be - just heat it up, pour in the batter, close, and cook for 6 minutes. The directions say to spray with cooking spray, but I forgot a couple times and the doughnuts still come right out without sticking. It also cleans up nicely, and the donuts come out great.
However - the recipe that comes with the maker is... not great. They were very floury tasting and I wouldn't make them again. I tried a muffin mix based on another review, and those were fun... a cross between muffins and donuts. Today tried spice cake mix and those are the best so far.
Ultimately you're not going to produce a donut like you'd buy in the store - but if you play around with recipes you'll come up with something tasty and fun to make, and it sure does bake them quickly! :)
