Love my Hot Shot! Water heats up really fast! Great for hot tea! I bought 2 - one for home and one for the office!
I do wish the reservoir was a little bigger since I like to make a big travel mug of tea, but it heats up so fast that I can do 2 batches in no time. Just add water, push the button and presto - hot water in about a minute - and then unit turns off! Only small cups fit under the dispenser, so you may have to transfer your very hot water to your larger mug. Do heed the warning to not plug in the unit without water in it, because when you plug it in, it does cycle on once.

I bought this sleek black model to replace our old white Hot Shot that performed wonderfully for over 15 years. I read the reviews but decided to give it a try. I didn't really mind the slight leaking problem... we always emptied it after each use anyway. And the temperature was good for us, even for tea. But then after only two months we discovered it needed to cool a few minutes before it would allow us to heat a fresh fill of water. Then a few days later the heat button stopped working completely. It seems more trouble than it's worth to return it. I'm going back to the old model!Customer Review: Hot Shot 6131 Black

Bought two of these as replacements to 10 year old white Hot Shots owned by my brother and I. I was excited to get a black one. But, the new black one is not made as well as the old one. The plastic is cheaper and flimsier. The whole unit can flex. If you fill it to the top, it slowly leaks all over the counter, because the water well does not sit level with the counter. Also, the water does not get as hot as the old one. Both my brother and I agree that the original Hot Shot was better. I would like to know if the white Hot Shot that Sunbeam sells now is any different.Customer Review: Hot Shot Wins My Respect

A friend introduced me to the Sun Beam Hot Shot a couple years ago. Before that time I would fill the kettle put it on the stove and wait for what seemed forever for the water to boil so I could finally enjoy a cup of tea. However with the Hot Shot all one needs to do is simply pour the amount of water the cup will require into the top of the Hot Shot, depress the activate button, and wait about 45 seconds or less...and wa-la...you have a cup of steaming hot water. It is worth every cent I paid for it and when I wear it out I will buy another one...as they are just wonderful.Customer Review: I LOVE this thing!!!

I had originally purchased a cordless electric kettle for heating water. While it did work, it required a minimum amount of water which was more than I ever needed and took a few minutes to heat. This is SO much more convenient! I can premeasure just the amount of water I need before I add to the dispenser and it literally heats it to boiling in mere seconds!! This is so handy for any "instant" food...oatmeal, cup of noodles, mashed potatoes, and hot cocoa to name a few. This is definately one of the best and most used appliances I own. I highly recommend it!!
