I was peeling 11lbs of white potato per week to make homemade dog food. It took forever by hand and my wrist would get sore.
The first Rotato Express I order was not the Deluxe model and it worked great after peeling well over 500 lbs of potato's in a 15month period it finally died.
I immediately ordered another this time the Deluxe model what a mistake this model did not perform well at all. It looked the same as my old one but didn't perform worth a hoot. I returned it and ordered the Starfrit 93209 Rotato Express model.
I don't know what the difference is between the two models but this one performs as well as my first one did. I highly recommend this unit to anyone that peels lots of potatos. Well worth the money if this one lasts as long as the first one did it cost less than .04 per pound of potatos peeled to use. Saves tons of time and my wrist doesn't get sore anymore. I have only used it with the electric adapter so cannot comment on the performance when using batteries.
I know there are some bad reviews out here. It would be nice to know if the others that have/had problems had the Deluxe version or the 93209 version.

My sister is wheelchair bound as well as having severe arthritis, yet she cooks and maneuvers her way around a kitchen in ways you have never imagined! Living 500 miles away from her, I only get home once a year, but every time I do, I am amazed all over again. She loves to cook, however, peeling for any extended period of time is arduous at best for Sis. (But her potato salad would be worth the wait, should she have to hand peel all those potatoes.) One day on the phone, she told me her old machine died and she did not know what she was going to do! The family barbecue was on for the weekend, and she wanted to contribute her marvelous potato salad. Amazon to the rescue. While still on the phone with her, I was able to verify the potato peeler she desired. Within days, she called me to say she was back in her wheelchair at the end of the dining room table: Peeling away! Soon the smell of cooking potatoes would be filling the house, and she would not be trying to open a pill bottle while in pain! Even without a disability, who really LIKES to peel potatoes? I hate peeling potatoes. Absolutely hate it. But I love eating potatoes. This seems like a silly gadget, I know, but we use it all the time. It doesn't remove all pain from peeling potatoes and you will still have to get the "divots" and grooves out by hand so it isn't perfect. I love it though and feel that it is the "best gadget" I have ever purchased. It is so easy to use that my daughter has used it since she was 6 or 7, helping in the kitchen.
Usually kitchen gadgets go unused and just take up space--but if you love potatoes and hate peeling them, you will love this. I have also used it very successfully with apples. I haven't attempted to use it with anything else.

My family really loves potatoes, and with my sons multiple food protein intolerances, potatoes are one of the only vegetables he can eat. I use this almost daily and LOVE it. It does occasionally get stuck if you don't clean the blade between uses or if you start the blade at a particularly stubborn spot on the potato. With that being said, I still recommend it to everyone that comes over and even gave my brother a demonstration, peeling a potato for absolutely no reason other than to show him how easy it was. I've had it for 3 months and use it regularly with no problems. If it does eventually break, it is cheap enough that I can purchase a new one without guilt.Customer Review: Love it!

This product makes peeling so much easier and the kids love using it! Any product that promotes the kids helping with dinner I am all for. It is easy to use, works great, and speeds up the process of peeling. We have a big family so when we make potatoes or eat apples, we eat a lot of them! I will agree that it is cheaply made because it is plastic, but I paid less then $20 so I expected that. If the product was made of all metal parts I am sure I would have paid over double the price, expectedly. I don't expect this to last forever and never break, but for the time being it is saving us a LOT of time in dinner preperation.
