I bought this 5 months ago and hardly got any use out of it. I ended up just getting a cute little rice cooker instead which is less work and less time consuming. You have to use this rice ball with a pot and bring the water to a boil and put in the right amount of rice and make sure you get it out at the right time or the rice will be too mushy. You also have to wait til the water drains out and it cools down so you can get the rice out of it.. I mean it's okay if you want to go through all of that for some rice but it tastes the same as rice in a rice cooker- rice is rice.
However, I can see where this would come in handy if you went camping or the power went out. Other than those kinds of survival/emergency uses- I don't see much need for this for any regular basis unless you like doing it the old fashioned way- putting a lot of work into a meal.
