Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Spice Stack Rack - (White)Customer Review: Best for counter tops Summary: 4 Stars
The pictures on Amazon show it in a pantry, which is where I put it. However, it is pretty bulky and may not make much of a space difference in that regard. Measure the space in your cupboard before ordering. However, it is very sturdy and comes already assembled.
Note that even though the reviews say it holds large spice containers, several of my containers are too big. Square containers fit oddly too and may not fit at all, though I did get some of my smaller square/rectangular bottles to slide in.
Also, you can't put anything in front of it as the drawers come out, but it's so tall that you may not be able to reach anything behind it either. You certainly can't see anything behind it and it's too heavy to shuffle around if you decide to store flour/sugar, etc behind it. Best for keeping on the counter, IMO. Just doesn't blend in with my color scheme so I keep mine in the pantry with seldom-used staples (big box of salt, odd oils, etc) behind it.
All that said, I'm still happy that I got it b/c it did save some space and my cupboard just looks more organized. Each shelf's label is a diff color so you can organize your spices by color if you want, but I keep mine alphabetical. I still consider it a good buy.
Customer Review: Going to Buy Another Summary: 5 Stars
It seems silly to say, but this is one of the best purchases I've made in a very, very long time. I have a ton of spices that I use on a constant basis...probably somewhere in the area of 75 bottles. Even though we built a large cabinet to house our spices, poor organization made it as useless as if the cabinet were tiny. I'm short, and reaching stuff that had fallen to the back of the cabinet was so very, very frustrating...sometimes it felt like gathering the spices to make dinner took longer than actually cooking the meal. This simple plastic cube has made cooking much more pleasant. The fact that the drawers fold down is just about the best design idea ever. I was afraid that the whole stack would tip over when I left the drawer down, but nope...totally sturdy. It fits all of my jars, short and tall (Penzeys, Spice House, Spice Islands, Rancho Gordo and McCormick). In addition, it also makes it easy to keep spices that I commonly use together in one place, which also cuts down on prep time (baking on one shelf, Mexican on another, Indian on another). We needed two but decided to just buy one to make sure that it met our needs. We'll be ordering the second one shortly. No issues with shipping or product quality.
Customer Review: Genius solution! Summary: 5 Stars
I recently moved into a new studio apt. with a teeny-tiny kitchen and not a single drawer in sight. I hate having my spices out on shelves because everything that's exposed in the kitchen tends to be covered in a sticky greasy film withing weeks. So I was looking for a rack that would let me keep my spices in the cabinet and give me easy access.
After looking around for a long time and almost building my own under-cabinet spice drawer, I found this great product. It fits into most cabinets and lets you store a whole bunch of spices while keeping them organized and easily accessible.
Pros: great concept, works as described and expected. stores more spices than I actually owned.
Cons: has a tendancy to tip forward when you pull out one of the drawers with heavier spices (in glass containers for instance). BUT, if you have a shelf directly over the rack it will not tip forward, so that's an easy fix. I guess you could also always secure the back of the bottom of the rack to the shelf with a bit of self adhesive tape, that should do it.
Bottom line: great great product. love it and recommend it.
Customer Review: The answer to my spice cupboard mess Summary: 5 Stars
For years I've tried to find something that would help me find the spices I need instead of pulling everything out of the cupboard to get at the back bottles. Turntables were OK but I still had to get at the spice bottles in the center. This is the answer. It fits perfectly in my cupboard and I got 40 bottles in it what with doubling up the short ones. As an added bonus I was able to clean out my cupboard and found that I had many duplicate bottles of spice that I bought because I couldn't find anything before. I thought I would need 2 of them but one held way more than I thought. When I first looked at it I thought "I paid thirty some bucks for this?" The plastic is not really thick but I don't plan on standing on it anyway. Mine was missing one of the little anti slide foot pads on the bottom but I had an adhesive pad for the backs of chairs that worked nicely in its place. After I got it in place and filled it up I was very happy that I bought it. It's really nice to have an organized spice shelf for once. If you're thinking of buying this product, do it. It's the answer to your spice storage problems.
Customer Review: Great product! Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using this item for almost 6 months .. LOVE it. My friends love it when they see it. I wish they made a version that would hold the larger spices.
I use this for spices I don't use every day - so my garlic powder, salt, papper, etc. stays in the cupboard next to the stove, and this is in a cupboard not quite as close. This cleaned out the cupboard next to the stove and put my spices where I could find them. You can fit two of the small spice bottles in one "spot". I have one drawer with just small ones (top drawer) and the glass bottles on the bottom drawer. Yes it's plastic, but it fits on my shelf exactly like the picture here, so when you pull a drawer out the shelf above prevents it from tipping.
I'd recommend this to anyone. It's an inexpensive way to organize those spices you don't use every day and have to go searching each time you want them! It also makes it easier to figure out if you need to buy spices for something. (I know I've ended up wtih 3 or 4 of the same odd spice because I couldn't find it before I went shopping!)
