Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Spice Rack Storage/Organizer

Customer Review: cost- and space- efficient
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a small kitchen, so it's important that everything I buy is space-efficient. These spice clips are perfect! I don't even have counter space for a spice rack, but I just stuck these on the inside of a cabinet door and now it's much easier to find the spice I am looking for. They also fit prescription medication bottles, which is very convenient. As others have noted, these are perfect for anyone who rents an apartment and doesn't want to invest much money in home improvement. The only way they could be better is if the adhesive on the back were like 3M "Command" strips and could be removed without damaging the surface underneath.

Customer Review: Fantastic organization system
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased several packages of these to organize spices within convenient reach of the stove, but hidden from view to reduce clutter. I used the heat tape method it came with and 2 months in, they are performing well. I paired them with J.K. Adams 16-Piece Spice Bottle Set of glass bottles (also from amazon) and although some of the full glass bottles are heavy, nothing has fallen out yet and I haven't resorted to using rubber bands around the bottles. I've never had spices so well organized and the only space they take up was previously wasted. Great idea!

Customer Review: Works Well
Summary: 4 Stars

These clips are definitely maximizing my shelf space. They hold the weight of the spices with no trouble and are easy to get spices out of. The only caveats are that it really works well with the McCormick style bottles that have a skinnier neck. Generic bottles that are wider are more difficult to get into the clips. And make sure you get them where you want them before you put them on. They don't come off once they are even lightly stuck. I think I will have to sell mine with the house, they will probably damage the cabinets when they are removed.

Customer Review: Attachment Tip: Use With 3M Command Strips
Summary: 4 Stars

For those that don't want to use the permanent adhesive that comes with the clips, or bother with screws, buy some 3M Command strips. I've found them to hold well, and they are easy to remove without damaging most surfaces. Just check the weight limit to make sure the strips you use can support several spice jars. Two or three strips per row should be enough.

After reading that the arms are prone to breaking off, I think I will affix each clip individually, so I can just replace any broken clip without taking down the entire row.

Customer Review: handy cheap
Summary: 3 Stars

Penzey's sells the smallest size jar of spices for about one dollar each. Since spices usually have a shelf life of one year and many spices are not used heavily but are required for some recipes, I have about thirty new little jars in an airtight bin. This makes a chore of sorting through them.

As I suspected, these bars are attached with mounting tape. I am familiar with the strength of 3M's mounting tape but this mounting tape requires a hair dryer to heat the tape before attaching to the wood. Tsk.
