Customer Review: After 6 Months of Almost Daily Use

When I first got this I didn't like it. It worked horribly in bed, and I couldn't find a good way to use it. The legs didn't stay where I wanted them to, I couldn't leave it on my bed when I wasn't there (with the legs up) as it'd fall over. I couldn't easily manuever around (get up, set the table on the floor to go do something) because the legs would never land straight - I dumped my laptop off of it more than once. It was just a pain. It never got used for 4 months.
Then in July I was forced to use this as I couldn't sit at a regular desk-like setting. I stopped trying to use it in bed and moved it to recliner (though I'm sure a chair/sofa etc would work just as well). I loved it there. The only problem I still had was the legs collapsing when I went to move and set it down. I figured out how to handle that and got pretty good and getting it to work.
Then a little over a month and a half later (of daily use) it started falling apart. The dowels that hold the lower parts of the legs together would ALWAYS pop out. I tried re-glueing them with wood glue, but it didn't work. Then the nut/bold combo that holds the legs to the table started to come out. It was frustrating in the extreme. Other than these rather major problems it was still in great shape.
I decided to fix it myself. I took it out and put screws in to keep the dowels (lower cross piece of the legs) in, and then removed the turning screws they'd used to connect it to the table, and used a nut and bolt in each location. The result is a MUCH sturdier, less frustrating product. I've continued using it every day since then for the last 5 months.
A couple of notes - the drawer is worthless, unless you maybe want to put a pen in there. I completely ignore it and don't use it.
It holds my large laptop with no problems and the option of tilting it up never feels unsecure.
In the end, it's a decent product, and one of the few I've ever found that will support a large laptop.
