Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Soda Club Fountain Jet Soda Maker, Starter PackageCustomer Review: Terrific Product! Summary: 5 Stars
This soda maker is so great on so many levels. It's a lot more convenient than buying seltzer at the store and bringing it home. And you never run out - you can always make more. Secondly, it's eco-friendly because you re-use the same plastic quart-size bottles over and over. Even if you recycle the store-bought bottles, it still uses resources.
What I like best about it is that I can use my own municipally-monitored tap water, run it through a Brita filter, and feel more confident about the purity than the commercial seltzers. Then I can add my own natural flavorings if I want. I didn't even try the flavored syrups that came with the startup kit, because they contain some of the chemical nasties that I'm trying to avoid.
One tip: You need to really give the button a good push when you're carbonating. I was a little too dainty with it at first and thought it wasn't working. But when I pushed harder, it worked great.
Customer Review: Frequent price increases and false claims of quantity. Summary: 2 Stars
This is a good product that is over-priced, over-hyped and under-serviced.
It comes nowhere near their claim of charging 110 liters of water from one charger. If you were to try to get 110 liters of soda water from their claimed 110 liter charger, it would be so flat you could barely call it soda water.
And, once you have made the substantial investment, you are a captive audience for their service, which includes frequent price increases.
The ability to exchange CO2 bottles locally is very iffy. It seems to be different every time. Last time, I had to have the bottle shipped to me. This time, their site claims local exchanges, but the places claimed as exchange locations on their site seem not to have the same information.
If they were upfront and honest about the cost and convenience of their product, I would give it four or five stars.
Customer Review: I COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT THIS!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I've never submitted a review here, but I've certainly used them to help me decide on purchases in the past. I have to say, hands down, that this is the best purchase I have ever made. My whole family loves seltzer, and I was getting tired of buying case after case and the recycling. . . This simple-to-use machine makes THE BEST seltzer there is! The sturdy bottles that come with it have caps that somehow retain the fizz a lot longer than ones bought at a store. We're not crazy about the syrups that come with the introductory kit (tho the Fresca wannabe is worth a try)- we just make plain ole seltzer with it. We own a second home, and I have one there, and I take mine to the beach with me every summer because life without it is unaimagineable!!!!THIS APPLIANCE IS THE BEST KEPT SECRET IN THE UNITED STATES!
Customer Review: Soda Club--great product Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this 2 months ago and my husband & I love it! I am going to get a second one...I am leaving one on the boat and one at home. I have used it for making all kinds of fresh juices and plain old seltzer water. The silver one is best because it has a base with the rubber gripping on it.
I've even used it to test my homemade craft beer...I chill the beer that hasn't been bottled yet and give it a few squirts on the soda club. This gives me a good idea of how the beer is doing taste wise.
So far i haven't found their soda products taste as good as mine, but that may be because I use full strength extracts and add Splenda. But I am delighted to see that they are using Splenda in their diet drink solutions!
Great for kids to make their own soda as well.
Customer Review: Exaggerated cost savings Summary: 1 Stars
The machine works well; I use it for making seltzer. And I like the convenience. But the claim of $.18 per liter seltzer is just plain wrong. Customer service could not explain how that cost can be achived. And the "60 liter" canisters can only produce approximately 45 liters of seltzer. I would give this product an excellent rating if the manufacturer were more honest about their cost claims. With the cost of the machine it takes awhile to see any savings over store seltzer and their claimed costs can never actually be achived.
