Customer Review: Is it me?
Summary: 2 Stars
The concept still seems great to me. However, in actual use it just didn't work as well as I had hoped. Although difficult to clean (even after coating the "slicer" with oil) that is just a part of the problem. The removable bottom of the pan allows the liquid part of the batter to "ooze" out between the time you pour it into the pan and the time the heat of the oven is able to stop it. I lined the bottom with parchment paper on the second try but then you don't get a smooth bottom because I couldn't get the parchment paper to be perfectly smoothe and the dough took the form of the ripples in the paper. Again not the worst thing in the world, but who needs it? I have only used this two times. Perhaps I will use it again but I think it is a whole lot better, in the long run, to bake in a "regular" pan and slice it yourself. On another minor point, the slices were too thick. Even though you could cut the 8 slices that the pan makes into however many you want, who needs it? Maybe my expectations were too high. With a little bit of re-engineering it COULD be 5 stars instead of 2.
Description of Slice Solutions 9-Inch Round Sectional Cake Pan Set
If you love baking then you know of the many problems that tend to occur during the process. Slice Solutions has created a sectioner 9" Round Cake Pan that is sized perfectly for the pan that you place into the pan before cooking. One cooked and cooled the sectioner is removed and you have 8 presliced, perfectly sized, cake slices! Problem 2: Removing the cake slices from the pan is not easy, even with a small turner you tend to crush at least the first one or two cake slices just to get into the pan. Slice Solutions has developed a pan with a removable bottom that eliminates this issue. After removing the sectioner you place the entire pan, centered, on the included wire lifting rack. In doing so, the removable bottom stays on this rack and the outer pan drops underneath allowing for you to easily use a small turner to remove the cake slice. You can also use sectioner as a cutter after baking is completed if desired.Round
