Customer Review: Very sturdy stand. Poor hardware

The stand comes very well packaged, and most items are shrink wrapped for protection. Assembly is straight forward. Anyone with a minimal amount of ability should be able to put this together no problem. HOWEVER, you cannot assemble the stand with the included hardware. All of the shelving, end panels, and back panel are fastened with pan head sheet metal screws. The screws they include are too small for the holes. They cannot be tightened, as they just spin in the holes. A trip to the hardware store fixed the problem, but Maytag should have caught this problem before the items were shipped. I called Maytag customer service on a Saturday morning, and got a live person after a very short wait (15 seconds). There is nothing they could do to help, other than log the problem. Other than this problem, the stand itself is very good quality. It is made of pretty heavy guage material, and weighs quite a bit by itself. I would definitely suggest that you place this item where it will reside before you put the skybox on top. The combined weight of a loaded skybox and stand is almost 300 lbs! I should note that I purchased this from my local Home Depot. Given how well it is packaged, I doubt even UPS could damage it in shipping. I rate the stand a 5, and the hardware a 0.
