Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Simply Calphalon Nonstick 6-Piece Bakeware SetCustomer Review: Still good after 2 years! Summary: 5 Stars
very nice quality items. the only reason i give it four stars is because the cookie sheet is so small. the cake pans are pretty small too. i know they list the sizes in the item description, but it's hard to imagine the actual size until i actually see it. however the quality is still very very good. I also always handwash my bakeware, so I wouldn't know if it rusts in the dishwasher.
Update (Aug. 19th, 2010):
I've owned these for two years now and they're still doing great (so I changed my rating to 5 stars). I haven't needed to buy any new bakeware yet. I've baked cookies, muffins, coffee breads, and cakes using this set and didn't ever needed to butter/flour the bakeware beforehand. All of my desserts have come out without sticking. I read somewhere that you can't put non-stick coated items in the dishwasher so I've always washed these with a sponge (the non-scrubbing/abrasive kind), soap detergent, and warm water. When I bake chicken, I line the bakeware with aluminum foil and anything that leaks through the aluminum and gets stuck on the bakeware, I soak in water and it's easy to remove.
Customer Review: An Absolute DELIGHT Summary: 5 Stars
This set has been a stable part of my cooking experiences and will remain so for a long time. Some other brands are pretty doggone good but this set is just a step above and oh how clean they become with little elbow grease. Very little. I cooked up a whole mess of viddles and when it was time to clean the pans it was so easy. Moreover and probably the best: the goodies were absolutely great. My cooking skills had little to do with it. The pans made me look good. One small caveat, however. Should you use these make sure you adjust your cooking temperature down about 25 degrees because I have found that the dark color of the material will not reflect as well as a light colored metal. That way you will save a few pennies over the life of the set and help you pay for it. Right, as if you will ever know how much etc.
As soon as I finish this, it off to the Cart for payment for a new set that my sister will receive soon. I guess if it is good enough for my sis it is the best.
Customer Review: Good Quality Pans for a Nice Price Summary: 5 Stars
These pans are a very basic set. If you're planning to do a lot of regular baking or if you're contemplating starring in your own cooking show then these might not be the best choice. However, for the average user this set makes a perfect complete set of what most household cooks will need. I put these on a wish-list and received them as a birthday present and I am quite pleased! These would make a nice gift for a child moving into their own home for the first time.
They are non-stick and you should hand wash them but don't expect them to last forever - they won't. They are all standard sizes except that the muffin tin cups are slightly small but that makes more muffins so it's an even trade as far as I am concerned. They are thinner than older similar pans which is why they are so lightweight but they are not too thin.
Customer Review: Sticking may become an issue Summary: 4 Stars
Great minds think alike. I bought this set for my daughter for Xmas and oddly she bought the exact same set for me for Xmas.
To begin with I was in love with this set. But I am keeping a close eye on it. It seems that the more I use the pans, items are beginning to stick to the bottoms.
I have never put these in the dishwasher....always washed by hand and dried immediately. I have also never used any type of cooking spray on them as I find this tends to ruin pans and make them impossible to clean.
I am hoping this doesn't become a problem in the future, as I really do like the set. It seems well constructed and well worth the money. My pans are calphalon also and I wouldn't trade them for anything.
Cake pans are small ones and so are the bread pans...not full size.
Customer Review: Rusty Summary: 1 Stars
After just one trip through the dishwasher these pans rusted and they rusted quickly. Sadly, I'm into day 40 of owning them and Amazon won't take them back. My only hope is that Calphalon offers a return. After grabbing the muffin pan and having a a few tablespoons of rust water drip from being trapped in the rolled edge my confidence in the product is at zero.
There is rust visible on the rolled underedges, the seams (muffin pan) and already eating away at a small scratch I accidentally put in the cake pan. I have always heard that Calphalon was a great product, this was my first purchase and boy was I disappointed.
I hope it's just a problem in this batch, I will update my review when I hear back from their warranty department.
