Customer Review: Not much light, very disappointed

I ordered this lamp for reading and using the laptop when in a recliner that is not near a wall outlet and in the middle of the room.
It assembles easily, the base seems stable and sturdy however the gooseneck top does not stay in place and the light output is quite low. Magazine print is hard to read with just this lamp. Also the light output is not adjustable (not that you'd want it any lower).
I'll keep it as an emergency lamp (earthquakes) since the battery operation is safer than a candle but I think the candle would put out more light.
This lamp is a big pile of poo.
