Customer Review: too sharp of a design

It's a nice looking block but users must beware.
Because of the styling of the block, the wood is higher in the middle and is cut down on the left and right side, to look spiffy. The knives can be physically put in the slots with the edge of the blade facing toward the center of the block or facing towards either side of the block. The slots are cut horizontally, not vertically.
You MUST remember to put the blades in so that the sharp edge faces toward the center, to keep all of the knife's sharp edge covered by the wood. If you forget and put the knife in the other way (remember, the slots are horizontal), then the sharp edge points towards the side of the block and is not all covered up by the wood of the block.
On the small Shun knives you will have 1" of sharp blade edge NOT IN the wood but exposed. On the large Shun knives, you will have 2 1/2" of sharp blade edge NOT IN the wood but exposed. It looks to be too easy to brush against the block and slice your finger, hand, wrist, or arm on the exposed blade edge--and there could be 9 exposed blade edges.
Too dangerous to have on a kitchen counter where one might reach past the wood block to get something, brush against the block, or grab the block to hold it or move it, as there could be lots of exposed knife edges ready to cut you if you forgot to put the sharp edge towards the center.
