Customer Review: An excllent finish whetstone, if it's what you need

The super-fine 6000 grit is perfect for putting a mirror-like finish on your Japanese style knife. The resulting finish is smooth enough to let sticky items like tomato slices pull cleanly away. The 1000 grit is a typical finish grit in many sharpening kits. Therefore this is not all that you need to sharpen your knives. You also need a rougher, perhaps 600 or so, grit for the first sharpening steps. (Unless you follow sushi chef fashion and sharpen every single evening!) The Shun logo adds to the price of this item, if you just need a whetstone, they're available at a variety of price points...
