Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Shun 300/1000 Combination WhetstoneCustomer Review: Good quality product Summary: 4 Stars
I've only used this once but it seems a good quality product and worked well. After doing some reading I was worried sharpening the blade correctly might be difficult (getting the right angle and such) but after watching a few videos on YouTube I got a feel for it and had no problems. Nice to have a sharp knife again!
Customer Review: Great Whetstone Summary: 5 Stars
This whetstone works perfectly. The course side really sharpens the knife while the smoother side finishes it off. The 1000 grit is pretty fine but not the finest out there if you want something better, but the super fine ones cost three times as much. For the money this is a great stone.
Customer Review: Does a fine job sharpening high quality knives Summary: 5 Stars
Of course, any whetstone requires care and practice and this one is no different. For someone who wants the absolutely finest edge, their more expensive and finer grit model will work a little bit better but it is very slow. Unless one is a Sushi chef, this does a fine job for us.
Customer Review: Good product, funny instruction manual Summary: 4 Stars
I'm a beginner at knife sharpening, but the product seems to work well. The instruction manual is obviously translated from japanese and not that instructive for those learning what to do. Thankfully there are several how-to videos on Youtube that can be used as substitutes.
Customer Review: Works well Summary: 5 Stars
Instructions are translated "Engrish" so be prepared to search on the Internet for how to use this thing. I wouldn't say they sharpened my Shun knives to "razor" sharpness, but they brought them back to their factory sharpness and that was what I was expecting.
